Hey all,
I'm a newbie here and in cycling as well. I just started, oh, a month ago. My boyfriend started getting into it a few months ago and I decided to follow. I'm still on my garage sale bike, seeing that I'm a college student, I don't expect to buy a good bike for a while.. perhaps I should ask for Christmas.. ah, good idea. I was wondering if any of you have found your shoulders hurting after riding for about 10 mintues. I don't know if I'm distributing my weight wrong or what. I did notice, though, that if I pull my hands closer to my body, but so my hands are still facing inwards, it helps. Is there something else I should do? Also, anyone here from Oklahoma, specifically the Norman area? I'm trying to find good places to bike that aren't on highway 9. Thanks! Taylor |

Hi!
I've had the problem of the shoulders hurting and that was when i had a bike that was too big for me in length. Do you find that you feel stretched out when sitting on the bike with your hands on the handlebars? If this is the case, be careful because i've been told that riding on such a bike for too long could cause injury. But, if it is the case there are 2 cheap quick fixes - get your seat adjusted so you're sitting further forward and therefore the length over which you reach isn't so big, or the other option is a shorter headstem which does cost money but i found only $50-70 Australian, which isn't too much. Sometimes the options can be combined for better results. Anyway, this is just one idea on the cause, so good luck. |

It may be that I'm too stretched out.. unfortunatley my rickety bike can't be adjusted that way. But good news! My boyfriend said he could by my a bike for Christmas. Isn't he the best!
Glad to be among you ladies. |
