i know this is a weird question, but i am just curious. I, and a lot of others i'm sure, mow a lawn once a week. Does breathing in all that dust and grass hurt cycling performance in any way? reduce lung capacity? etc..? Thanks.

My opinion would be no, unless you suffer from allergies or asthma. Your lungs should be able to handle a little dust once a week...they're pretty good at self-cleaning (asbestos fibers being an exception). If you'd rather not breathe the stuff, just wear a paper dust mask while you mow...all the home centers sell them. Bet you'll be surprised how much dust the mask picks up after you're done mowing. |

I would think it would... breathing in all those particles... Then the stuff goes to your lungs and just stays there...
For example, volcanic ash, if you breath that it, you are breathing in TINY ROCKS!! Yikes, not good for your lungs. Cuts them up, etc. Just wear those protective paper masks... Better safe than sorry

STOP IMMEDIATELY! Do not mow the lawn during cycling season. You can develop a condition called "lawnmower lungs". If you continue to mow, and not head this important warning, you will not only get icky stuff in your lungs, but may not have enough time left to ride. |

lol, that your excuse is it, ill have to remember that when i want to go out on my bike next time its nice and the garden looks somewhat like a jungle. "sorry love, i could get lawnmower lung" maybe you could do us a web site with signs and symptoms of lawnmowerlung, then we can show our partners, why they must do the gardening in good weather. |
