Default Last of the Five Time winners?

Just as parity has been more or less achieved in N.F.L. football,(where it used to be that certain teams would win the Super Bowl two or three times in a row)
I think that as the peloton learns how to train the way that Carmichael and company do and as the few who really want to focus learn to concentrate on the Tour as Lance Armstrong has done, we may never again see a four or five time winner of the Tour De France! In fact, I will bet that in the next thirty years, nobody will win more than three tours in their careers! Any takers?

Ooh, ooh. Me! Me!

Consider that in the last 50 years of the tour, approximately half of those years have been won by a 4x plus winner. The longest gap between multiple winners has been 5 years.

Historically, the trend seems to be towards more multiple winners not less. Actually, I think the increased emphasis on "the team" lends itself to more tour domination and multiple winners.

So, yes, I will certainly take your bet.

My wager: One Billion Dollars. And I don't accept personal cheques.

I'll take you up on that one. The payment will be 1 cent a year for 100 billion years.
