I don't think they produce any Merlot.
They are based on a zone that is different from the one where Merlot is
produced.

Not just any wine, he specifically requested a merlot. It probably said that
on the side of the last box he poured a glass from.

You'll probably find some Merlot in almost any wine shop in Texas.

The California vintners learned several years ago that it mixed well with the Cabernet grapes and the Merlot Noir has steadily gained popularity until it is sold now onder its own nomenclature.

Grown extensively worldwide these days, its home was originally on the outskirts of the Bordeaux region (Saint Emilion) and I wouldn't think that it has much appeal for the Italian vintners although the Merlot Noir is grown in northeastern Italy where it sorta suffers from over growing.

But interestingly, Davey, who hasn't been much of an imbiber the last 2 - 3 decades started swigging 150ml (4.5 fluid ounces Imperial) every night.

He got checked out exhaustively last month, more in deference to his advancing years than to diagnose any particular malady, and it seems that his HDL, which the Canadians like their British Colonial mentors seem to measure in the mystic ``millimole'' units, is a tad low.

His salt intake and other nutrients all being within acceptable limits, his diet being decidedly Spartan and his weight only 2 Kg more than it was 50 years ago, the Learned Doctor Hummed and Hahed until she finally decided that a small glass of red vino every night might do the trick and boost the critical HDL measure.

So next time he replenishes his stock he'll investigate the price of Merlot and report back on its therapeutic qualities...

Nah, redneck wine culture is Strawberry Hill for the girlfriend while
the guy's drinking Miller Golden Draft.

Wrong again. Box wine's too much of a commitment, while Gallo Merlot is
~$3.79
a 750 ml bottle & gone in only two days. I drink cheap Merlot instead
of cheap
Cabernet because cheap Merlot is less acidic than cheap Cabernet. I
will, however,
pay two or three times that for a six pack of good India Pale Ale, which
I love
like a beautiful woman's breast. But wine's less fattening.

Thanks, this is what I was after. I didn't know what their actual label
names were. I see the Bianchi labels are green, but not quite celeste.

Is Caldirola actually a producer or is this a regional cooperative of wineries?
