Default Afscheidscriterium Johan Museeuw

What is this? Like a post-career crit? Fund raiser?

(from CyclingNews.Com)

1 Johan Museeuw (Bel) Quick.Step-Davitamon
2 Peter van Petegem (Bel) Lotto-Domo
3 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick.Step-Davitamon

One big party is what it was. It was a goodbye-crit/kermesse, with friends,
team mates, and other invited big names doing a few laps around the beer
tent. Huge turn-out, they spoke of 50,000 people. It was lovely weather.
Lots of tv camera's, interviews, highlights from the career, you name it.
Dave Bruylandts who shot the race away played along nicely and remained
dead-serious when they asked him what the chances were of Museeuw winning
And yes it was a fundraiser too, because they auctioned off his bike
for E.15,001 (for a child cancer charity).

I thought about going, as my parents' house is sort of in the neighbourhood,
but reckoned cycling back 50 km at 3 am with (maybe) a few beers in me
would just be a bit too much.

I have no driver's license, so it would all be quite a hassle; backpack with
change of clothes for starters. Anyway, it's a long journey to get there
from where I live, 3 hours by train, boat, bus. And bring bike, more
clothes, <sigh>

Yes, my mommy and daddy rented the room out when I went away for a while, to
one horribly perfect lodger. I wanna kick him in the gulliwuts, but I
can't. Only a bit of the old Ludwig Van can ease my pain.

Ewoud is remarkably civil and much better educated than he has any right to
be. Sometimes I think that I ought to be more careful around him but he
shocks so easily....

You must return here with a shrubbery or else you will never pass through
this wood alive!
