After starting such a heavy thread as the Black Riders discussion, I
thought I'd throw out something a bit more fun (and a bit inane) to balance it out. What's your favorite cyclist name - MTB, road, track, amateur, fatty master's, whatever? I'm partial to Gorka Gerrikagoitia, myself. -Sonarrat. |

I like how riders here give names to their kids.
It would be nice if something good became of Francesco Planckaert. Also look forward to maybe see 'Gianni Museeuw' or 'Eddy De Vlaeminck' in the peloton one day. |

There's already Eddy Mazzoleni of course, but I don't know of any other Italian riders named after cycling legends. |

I love the sound of the Italian names:
Mario Cippolini Fabio Baldato Pietro Caucchioli Andrea Tafi Graziano Gasparre Fabian Cancellara Alessandro Petacchi Guido Trenti (that famous American) Gianluca Bortolami Marco Pantani (whom I will miss) Gilberto Simoni Stefano Garzelli ....and those are just present day riders. Claudio Chiappucci Gianni Bugno Fausto Coppi Gino Bartali Alfredo Binda Guido Bontempi But, of course, no name matches "Eddy Merckx" for the depth of connection to cycling. |
