I think some nipples are too large. In fact I had one supposedly Campag-compatible cable that wouldn't fit. > >> 2. Is there any way to succesfully repair a bad split in a hood? > > Nope. Nevermind. Most cables require some grinding or, you just need to grind off the little plastic, "v" shaped piece right in front of where the brake cable is. That leaves a hole. |

Yes, just about any brand 2. Ouch. I have some Velox latex solution across a small tear in my natural covers but the black Ergo covers aren't latex. Did you try rubber patching solution? I'd rinse with alcohol/acetone for a clean edge and try that. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

I stitched the hoods up on my old Shimano aero levers (the one with the long hoods... don't know if replacement hoods are available) with needle and thread around 15 years ago, and it has been a permanent fix. The hoods look pretty bad now, but they're 17 years old. Andrew Lee |

In the US, Excel Sports sells Campy ergo hoods for either 8 speed (older "pointed" hoods) or the current 9/10 version (newer "round" hoods) for $25/pr: http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?...or=8&site=qbike |
