I've got an old road frame in need of TLC. The old headset was shot,
so I plan to replace it. I'm afraid I'm going to have a problem with the fit, however. I know that "standard" crowns press into a 30.2mm head tube. My head tube, however, measures in at ~30.75mm. I thought I might be dealing with a worn tube, but the old crowns were snug, and when I measured what was left of them, they turned out to be ~30.8mm. This might be a pretty basic question, but can someone tell me what I'm dealing with here? Are shims available to allow me to fit a standard headset in this head tube? Regards, Hal |
