Put on a new cassette and new chain today. Chain is same length as
old, but the cassette is a 12-23 instead of a 11-23 (but I had a 12-25 on recently with no issues). Same kind of chain (wippermann stainless 10v) and same kind of cassette. The thing shifts like crap! It used to shift perfectly. Now it is fussy going onto the 12t (like I said, it had no issues with the 12 on the 12-25). Is it true Wippermann chains have a "right" and "wrong" way to go on? I heard it did and switched it around after the initial clanking, and it seems the same. Or do new chains need a bit of stretching? I wiped the wax crud off, and lubed everything up, but it's like my old stuff shifted better. |

The derailleur might be crudded up at one end, if the spacing isn't
quite the same off the hub and it has to travel a little further. I'd change the end stop so it can travel further and try shifting it by hand (rather than with the cable), just to see if that's likely the cause. -- Ron Hardin rhhardin@mindspring.com On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

You may want to adjust the derailer with the screw that is on the end of the cable entering the derailer. -- Posted by news://news.nb.nu |
