Anybody know the front derailleur clamp size on the Cross Check? I've

According to QBP (owning company of Surly) the CrossCheck uses a 1 1/8"
(28.6mm) clamp diameter for the FD. Enjoy the usable road bike. -kurd "Chris" <chrismccreary@comcast.net> wrote in message news:memdnQxYgIIkkRLd4p2dnA@comcast.com... > Anybody know the front derailleur clamp size on the Cross Check? What's up with the "usable" part? Is that a complement to Surly, or a dig on the heavy/utilitarian/not very sexy nature of the frame? Just curious. But the ride will be extremely usable...no junk carbon/ti nonsense, stuff that works first, looks good second, impresses other riders third. Usable. I like that. Chris |

I figured an ugly fun little tank. Turns out it is finished much better than I expected. A little heavy but rides very well on the road, comfortable, stable. No buyers remorse, I'd buy another one in a minute. I put some plastic fenders on it for a 40 mile ride in the rain Sunday and came home mostly dry with a smile. This will be my new winter/awful weather bike as well. Enjoy your CrossCheck -- Bill Brannon b REMOVE brannon AT att OBVIOUS DOT net |

I'm from Michigan, home of the worst roads in the free world. I have a Trek
5200 road bike with 700x25s and a basterized Trek 7500FX that has drop bars, barcons, LX v-brakes and Ritchie cross tires at 700x30. Sure the 5200 is faster and lighter, but I can ride for much longer and much further on the 7500fx. It's a road bike that can handle sidewalks at 16mph. As I said, enjoy the usable road bike. -Kurd "Chris" <chrismccreary@comcast.net> wrote in message news:sdCdncN9Au1frRLd4p2dnA@comcast.com... > > "Kurd" <too@much.spam> wrote in message > news:nnFjc.26$7b5.2@newssvr16.news.prodigy.com... > > According to QBP (owning company of Surly) the CrossCheck uses a 1 1/8" > > (28.6mm) clamp diameter > > for the FD. > > > > Enjoy the usable road bike. > > > > -kurd > > > > Thanks for the info.
