Default Correctly Mounting Tubeless Tires

Hi,
I have installed Bontrager tubeless tires on CrossMax rims, but they arn't
mounting properly. The tire has a wobbly look when the wheel spins. Has
anyone any tips?
Thanks Jim Chan

Try pumping 'em up to 5-6 bars (or just really hard and see if the bead
"pops" into place on rim.

PS: 68.7% of posters agree, it's "tubless" not tubeless ;-)

Thanks Bill, yep, I've tried pumping them up v. hard, letting them down
again, tried 'massaging' them - but parts of the tyre continue to hold a
little lower on the rim whilst other parts hold higher (i assume the parts
of the tire that hold higher are correctly seated)

I was thinking of putting some washing up liquid on the tire walls that
might allow them to slip into place ? but worried that this may affect the
seal ?

(PS : it says 'tubeless' on the tirewall - better let the guys at Bontrager
know their manufacturer can't spell :-)

They use it for automobile tires to help the beads pop into place...why not
here? Often it is just dishwasher liquid and water, but they sell the real
deal. I dunno what it is called. Sorry.

karoline lerang top-posted, but we'll let it go this time:

Well, UST wheels actually *recommend* soapy water to help install the tires,
so give it a shot.

One thing you might try first, though, is let OUT the air and see if you can
even out the bead on the rim, and then re-inflate.

Perhaps "tubless" means that the leakage is so obvious that there's no
need for a tub of water to find it?

I will admit to a certain lack of personal interest in tubeless tires
for bikes at this point, but I'll take my jokes wherever I can find
them.

Don't quit your day job just yet.

It could be the tire is defective. if you bought two new tires, try
the other one on this rim and see if the problem goes away.

I had the problem once and sent the tire back for warranty.

OK, got them pumped up with a compressor - the beads 'cracked' into place.
Thx !

Now you just have to mount a generator to your bike and carry the compressor
in your Camelbak! ;-)

Bill "either that, or just a tube" S.

PS: Glad you got 'em workin'!
