Default Sidi Shoes - SPD plate rattle

The Sidi Millennium II sole has a plate to accept SPD pedals. After
attaching my Time cleats the SPD plate rattles with every step.
Nothing is engaging the plate so it is free to move up and down. Is
there a way to remove the SPD plate which I don't need? Wedging in
some masking tape seems an ugly solution. Perhaps I should make a
short M5 set screw.

I would think that anyone not using an SPD cleat would have this
problem but haven't seen any postings. Hmmm.

A wee bit of Fastac...glue it so it doesn't rattle.

Caulk, silicone, glue, epoxy, hot-melt glue, shoe goo, plasti-dip,
or possibly a rubber walrus protector.

I've seen small grub screws in there ( a short screw with an
allen broach but no actual head).

Some SiDi insoles have a small slit which opens as a
'window' to service the threaded inserts. Fold open that
window. Remove the unused (or a damaged ) threaded insert
and press the insole flat. You can't tell that's been done
after you press it home again.

If your shoe doesn't have such a slit, one is easily cut
with a sharp blade. It is not necessary or desirable to
remove the entire liner.

Thanks for the responses. I just shoved in a bit of masking tape.
Seems like it would be the easiest to undo. I'm still somewhat
surprised that anyone would need to resort to glue, masking tape and
knives when dealing with a brand new $200 shoe.
