I have a can of the Brooks Proofide, the smell is horrendous, but I think
some women actually like that smell.

New (2003 copper-top tin, 2004 green one) Proofhide actually
smells nice - not like a charnel house. It's completely
different in texture too.

Not only that, the newer proofide with the silver-topped cover is
thinner and runnier, and each package comes complete with 25% less of
that thick stuff than what you used to get with the large, copper-top
rimmed containers (56g vs. 40g.)
