Any idea why Jose Azevedo got a pony? Was it to do with
being the lone portugese rider or something else? |

Every year he lets one rider take care of the pony during the Tour. It is considered a high honor, kind of like painting Tom Sawyer's fence. I don't know why he picked Azevedo, but maybe it's some kind of Telekom-USPS psychological warfare thing - Lance thinks "I'm team leader, how come Jose gets the pony?" and Jose thinks "I'm pretty special, I got the pony. If Lance falters, maybe I can ride for myself." I don't quite understand what the riders do with a pony after it is awarded, actually. But if we see the USPS team car driving in the caravan towing a little horse trailer, we'll know. Lafferty will claim it's all a cover for USPS to tote around equine growth hormone. |

If Lance loses the tour, that won't be steak at the post- tour dinner. |
