Default Alessandro Petacchi finds France tougher than Italy

Alessandro Petacchi out DNS Stage 6. Same with some old guy
named Mario who had begged promoters a start. He had said he
would ride to Paris to earn the selection. Meanwhile, some
small French team leads the race.

Ah, Petacchi went down pretty hard yesterday.... I think
when you can't feel the 'bars its time to pack it in,
don't you?

I hate to add fuel to the fire but both these guys are soft.
I am saying that as an Italo-Canadian who has ridden his
road (cross bike to be exact) bike in -25 degree celcius
weather. Heck my morning commutes most of this spring were
-10 Celcius and I had a perfectly good car in the garage and
a bus full of pretty secretaries as alternatives. Slow as I
may be, no one was paying me or counting on me to finish the
ride but I did.

These guys have teams and sponsors counting on them. XRays
show no dislocation or fracture but Peta can't go on. Mario
has a light fever from a scrape on his leg. They suck and
are a disgrace to their country.

Franco Ballerini and Andrea Taffi were good Italian cyclists
of the sort I wish there were more of.

None of us know these guys and shouldn't pretend to.

Good point. Plus, the pro peloton isn't the first place
I'd look for someone to call 'soft'. Newsgroups, on the
other hand...

Every Italian star rides for about two years more than he
should, or until he's a total embarrassment. Cipo, Pantani,
Chiapucci, Bugno. Even Moser wouldn't go away.

I hate to put Tafi and Ballerini in that category too.
