****** Sir or Madam, First off, let me commend you for providing cycling coverage. I've been an intense fan of European cycling since the late 80s, and I'm thrilled that you're providing coverage of the classics, the Vuelta, Giro and Tour. That being said, let me provide some constructive criticism of your evening tour coverage: 1. Try to back off on the 'Lance Fest' attitude. Yeah, Lance is great, and its great that an American is doing well. The Tour is the Tour, though, and there are 180 other riders, and thousands of other stories. The tour will be around after Lance is gone. There's a good chance that your coverage won't, though, if you can't generate interest in the sport above and beyond the personality of Lance. 2. The live coverage with Phil and Paul is great. However, I believe all the 'extras' added to the evening coverage actually takes away from the quality of the show as compared to the live coverage. 3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't show "the cutters" ever again. Those guys are the epitome of unfunny, douchebag, jock-sniffing retards, and watching them make fools of themselves on a daily basis makes me cringe. Your encouragement is not what they (or the rest of us) need. With the example that those guys provide it's no wonder Europeans think Americans are dumbasses. To reiterate, I sincerely appreciate the coverage that you are providing, and I hope that this input may be of some benefit. Sincerely, Hold My |

Dude.... if you had a job you would not even notice the Cutters piece. I only saw them once, for a few minutes, on Monday's holiday. NO ONE is FORCING you to watch the Tour 4 times/day!!!! How about Al Trautwig?
I loved his discussion with Carmichael during yesterdays pre- race show about echelons! I never new the physics behind them -- that they "form a wing" and allow the riders literally "to take off." Gosh, there goes an echelon right past my tenth story window as we speak! And all this time, I've been duped into believing that I had to buy airline tickets to fly somewhere! This guy says some damn stupid things. I've never seen a more uniformed sports commentator. I was actually embarrassed for him yesterday! Bring back Kristin Gum -- at least she was nicer to look at than that moron Trautwig. Also, what's with Bob Roll's hand gestures. I thought he was having epileptic seizure yesterday during the pre-race show. Either get the man some sedatives, or tie those hands down. Why did OLN cut away to commercial without warning with
under 3 miles to the finish and the peleton on the verge of catching up the the lead group of 4 in stage 6 today? Why did they roll back the tape to around 5 miles to go when coverage resumed? Why did they then cut away to commercial suddenly yet again with around 2 miles to go an a solo breakaway from the lead group in progress? And why, when coverage resumed, was the race all over with no word on that breakaway? Was this some sort of technical glitch, or is this a reflection of what OLN thinks of its cycling viewers? I was specifically watching the first repeat coverage of today's stage, so it wasn't even live. This is not how to cover the tour. And what's with the 20+ reruns of all those "Lance Chronicles" segments? Is it that hard to come up with new programming? How many times do we have to see Lance chew out "College" for making bad coffee? Is OLN a cash-poor takeover target? -- Kovie kovie@earthlink.netizen |

"The Cutters" are a reference to a classic cycling film (not American Flyers, the other one) referring to local townies who form a cycling team to take on local college jocks in a stadium relay race, along with some pros thrown in. OLN has recreated these "Cutters" in the Tour this year as a group of loud, obnoxious, ugly Americans wreaking havoc for international etiquette as they follow the Tour. Today's interview of Tyler seems pretty good though. Maybe we're getting through and they're toning it down. Jeez that guy (Hamilton) has class. |

They Cutters have been around for a while. They are just "capitalizing" on them. |
