I have to laugh about all those who wonder whether LA will
do it again this year. Admittedly, it looked like he had a tough time last year. But he did it. I only watch bike racing once a year so I'm not an expert. But I have to laugh about all those discussions that he can't do it. I also admit it's too early to proclaim that LA will win his 6th. But he's proven to me today that there's no one capable of beating him unless he falls or gets sick, etc. I salute Lance Armstrong. To all those who participate in this newsgroup and write nasty things about him. Too bad for you. He's our American hero. Don't bother writing nasty comments. I'm not interested in what you have to say about Lance. He's proven to me he's the best. |

I agree--and did not Ullrich acknowledge Lance's, as Ullrich
put it, "Superiority." I am not saying Lance is a saint--he seems like he'd be a pain in the ass to live with. But the the bitterness with which he is attacked here is silly. If he wins 6, then we'll see all the reasons why it was not really an accomplishment. << I have to laugh about all those who wonder whether LA will do it again this year. Nothing is sacred to this bunch of super-arrogant bastards. Something about, "Well yeah, I know how to suffer too. Give me a similar VO2Max and time to ride, and the support of mechanics and soigneurs, and I could do that too. So you ain't shit." It's part of why it's a great sport. -- -- Lynn Wallace http://www.xmission.com/~lawall "We should not march into Baghdad. ... Assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerilla war, it could only plunge that part of the world into ever greater instability." George Bush Sr. in his 1998 book "A World Transformed" |

> so I'm not an expert. I think you should have just posted this part of your rant. We have not had a hill stage yet. Lots can happen. I also never heard anyone say Lance can't win his 6th. He is favored by the book makers to win as well. He looks very tough and is the favorite, but we will see what happens. I still think Jan will press at some point. Curt |

Be nice because next year will be expensive for them, what with the new Discovery kit, Zero glasses and team bike to buy. |

Translation: He will win, but I'm not going to say he will win. > But he's proven to me today that there's no one capable of > beating him unless he falls or gets sick, etc. I usually don't go in for name-calling, but you're an idiot. BTW, you probably didn't need to say that you only watch bike racing once a year since it's more than obvious from this sentence. > I salute Lance Armstrong. To all those who participate in > this newsgroup and write nasty things about him. Too bad > for you. He's our American hero. Now you're an ethnocentric idiot. Only people in the US get cancer? Hamilton's not from the US? What I want to know is who taught you to use a computer because I'd like to kick their ass. > Don't bother writing nasty comments. Whoops! Too late. > I'm not interested in what you have to say about Lance. > He's proven to me he's the best. And finally, you're an ostrich. Yes, people bash Lance. But if you look at most of the comments, they relate to the amount of press he gets, and the general overexposure of his life. I used to be a Lance supporter, and some small part of me wants him to win his sixth. And that part will be a little sad if he does win six and I didn't appreciate it more. His surviving cancer and subsequent Tour victories are inspiring beyond words, but they have been drowned by an avalanche of blind, moronic American publicity with ESPN leading the pack. Roland |

In article <cchs8u029s1@enews1.newsguy.com>,
sniadoch@bluefrog.biz says... >But he's proven to me today that there's no one capable of >beating him unless he falls or gets sick, etc. He hasn't proven much yet. After the first day in the mountains we will know if he is really in shape to win number 6. ------------ Alex |

I am as big an Armstrong fan as anyone, but still the mountains loom and let's see who has the best form after Stage 10 next Wednesday when the mountains hit big time. I personally do not see anyone beating Lance based on form, knowledge, desire, conditioning, team, experience, maturity, or road skills. -Ken > Don't bother writing nasty comments.
