Default mavic ksyrium elite as a touring wheel?!?

I am looking at a used touring frame that comes with ksyrium elite wheels. I will probably build something more robust later on but - anyone have experience with them on a moderately loaded tour?

Not good wheels for touring!
Too few spokes.
Not a semi-tangential spoking pattern.
Mostly proprietary rims, hubs, etc.
Ask how long it will take to replace a spoke, a rim, a freehub body in shops that will be along your tour route.
You can find many pre-built wheels for under $200 that will serve you better. Have them spoke aligned, tension balanced, and stress relieved.
36 spoke semi-tangential (3 cross) pattern with standard hubs and rims is a basic starting point. Rims should be suitable for the width tires you will use. Double butted quality spokes add to the durability of the wheels.
