Howsit Lazarus! We spent X-mas at home, but got some nice goodies: cool new cycling shades to go with my cycling outfit, LA's book 'It's not about the bike', which may I add, is an awesome read! If you have'nt read it yet, go and get it now! I still have to get a new saddle and tyres for the bike, though. X-mas time in SA means summer, and it was cooking! Some rain here and there, but overall it was nice and hot. How was your X-mas?
Sadly, I have to go with England for the 6 Nations. I think they'll take off from where they left when the Boks and the Wallabys were over there, and wallop the others. Sad, but thats what I think's gonna happen. So it's Pontypridd thats letting you down then? I must admit, alot of South Africans feel the same way you do considering the way that the Rugby and Cricket teams have been performing lately. The Aussies truly hammered Pollie and the boys Down Under. I don't see much hope for the Super12 either. :-[

Xmas was great, we missed out on a White Christmas by one day, waking up on Boxing Day to see everything covered in snow was excellent, it only lasted a few hours then the rain came down and washed it away.
Santa brought me Lego, Knex and the totally awesome Stomp Rocket (well actually he gave those to my son but I wasn't going to sit back and let him have all the fun ).Personally I waited till the sales after Xmas, and bought myself a new cycling jacket, CD writer and a DVD Player (so I'm going to try to catch up on some films that I haven't seen) Suffering today, went to watch the boys play rugby yesterday kick-off was 5.30 so went out at 4.00 for a drink before the match, the boys won and made it into the Quarter finals of the European shield so finally got home at 4.30 am slightly worse for wear :![]() |

VO2 , Who do you think will get the job ? Maybe I should apply, I talk a good game ;D
Today my local team has a match against our nearest rivals, in terms of geography and in terms of league positions, they are bottom and we are next above them. :'( In fact it's their castle that I posted in the picture. |

Vo2 It said in the paper that Viljoen quit because of all the negative publicity he was getting, but with his record your countrymen are not exactly going to hoist him onto thier shoulders and sing his praises are they.
but on a lighter note Last night they had the draw for the Principality Cup ( it is welsh rugby's biggest trophy) and it was the round where they bring in the Premier division clubs, so me and a few friends sat down to watch it, and what a shambles. Ebbw Vale was drawn out of the bag twice , so was Newbridge and two of the premier teams were not drawn out at all ! and this was done by the governing body of Welsh Rugby, so now I hope you can see the problems that Welsh Rugby fans have to endure :-[ |

Surely they can't accept that? Whats next? Newbridge vs Newbridge? ???
Here in SA, the Viljoen saga has once again made SA Rugby the laughing stock of the world. The National side has now had 9 coaches within an 11 year period! Apparently, the pressure was too much. His words were: 'Ek het gevou" which means "I folded". It looks like either Gert Smal (Stormers) or Rudolf Straueli (Sharks) will take over. : ![]() My opinion about the whole thing: politics!

Vo2 , the draw was made before a televised game , the commentators noticed the error and were talking about it, and about half way through the game a revised draw was put up on the screen which got the teams right, but nobody saw this draw so how they did it heaven knows?
looking back it was quite funny to see Ebbw Vale V Newbridge and then to see thier names drawn out of the bag again, and I would have loved to have been in the clubhouses of the 2 teams that weren't even drawn out of the bag ![]() |

To Vo2 and all you other South Africans
![]() On sunday I'll be going up to the big city(London) to see the worlds greatest team (my local team) taken on the might of the Saracens. I understand that a lot of you might not have heard of them, but thier top dog is called FRANCOIS PIENAAR , a name I'm sure you've all heard, so if I get to meet him (He'll have to be in the bar though for me to meet him ;D ;D) I'll send him your love :-* |

Ole Ole Ole Ole ponty ponty
Yes Vo2 you guessed it the boys won. I didn't see Francois Pienaar he must have been in another bar drowning his sorrows ;D. It was close, we were up 15-17 and the Saracens had a penalty in the last couple of seconds. When up stepped Jannie De Beer (another name you recognize I think ;D) to take the penalty, I watched with the ball sail through the air towards the posts only to hit the post and bounce back, believe me when I say that the joy I felt when the whistle blew a couple of seconds later was overwhelming ;D ;D ;D Now then I wonder where the Semi-final will be played ![]() By the way Old-timer I did have a drink (thanks) and because I couldn't find Mr Pienaar I also had to drink the one I'd bought for him as well ![]() |

The Great Redeemer (graham henry) has quit as the welsh coach, So where does welsh rugby go next.
Please don't answer that question, until we get rid of the WRU committee there's only one way to go. D .O ..W ...N ....H .....I ......L .......L But there's always my local club team, we have drawn London Irish away, I don't know how the game will go but I know the day will start off dark, it will then gently settle, and then end up with a nice white cloud on top.....................ah Guinness |
