What I would have said was - Let me know when you get here, if you fancy the odd evening ride or anything. Like I said above, I'm itching to get riding again.

I'm from Liverpool. Mainly do road riding (nothing beats riding up Cheshire hills in the rain, eh?), but I am sporting a rather nice bruise near my eye from mountain biking. I go across to the Velodrome in Manchester when track league is on, but only ever as a spectator. I'm considering riding when it restarts though, since riding over the Ventoux has made me want to do lots more cycling...

43 yr old Quality Manager from Salford, Manchester, England. Ridden bikes on and off at club level for about 25 yrs with occasional interruptions from Children and work and a part time degree.

Just ordered a replacement road bike for my stolen wolf in sheeps clothing.

So I've been on a mountain bike for a while which is so slowwwww.

As I am over 40 and classed as a veteran I'm going to have a go at doing some time trials to see if I can beat some standard times. So I'm training on bike and in Gym at least 300k a week on the road.

If anyone is in the area and wants to do a bit of road work or week end rides send me an e-mail.

PS I am hoping to do the etape du tour next year has anybody got any experience or advice? -

Working full time at the moment in an office, slaving away to repay my debts because I'm at uni, in St. Andrews (Scotland).

Cunningly used the money from this job to buy my first road bike, which i've had for 2 weeks today. So that'll be more student debt ahead then..hell yes.

I ride my road bike a lot now, and used to ride my mountain bike on the road till i got fed up and bought the new beast. Funny thing is I now use my mountain bike a lot more off-road as a result of buying a road bike.

I live in Perthshire, Scotland. I'm either in late middle age or early senility depending on how I'm feeling. I'm semi-retired and was very overweight until I did something about it this year. Now I'm just fairly overweight and still working on it. Cycling is a great way of exercising enjoyably. I've even convinced myself that I look just as good in lycra shorts and a bike helmet as young guys (that's everyone under about 45). If you meet me on a trail, please don't spoil my illusions!

Hello everyone,

Just signed up to the forum today. I live in Livingston,10m outside Edinburgh recently taken up cycling, bought a second hand mtb in May, an Alpinestars Cromega LX (around 9 year old in great nick). Since then i try to cycle as much as i can, plenty nice routes up to an hours drive from home, Callander, Glentress etc.
Just back from a 2week camping/cycling hol in the Lake district with my wife who is also hooked on cycling, just bought herself a Trek 4500 mtb.We are now looking to do a 3/4 week cycle tour early next year which is the main reason for joining this forum to gain info on which bike/training/intinery/route etc.

I am from Newcastle and it has some of the most fantastic countryside around!You need to head to Northumberland - anywhere North of Ponteland is great.Join a club and you will find the better roads.You are also not far from the Cheviots so head to Rothbury, Alwinton and Otterburn for some big hills

I live in Leek, Staffordshire. I train in and around Macclesfield forest and the surrounding hills. I have only had a road bike for 7 months now but have managed to the Polka Dot challenge in Woodford in June and completed the Etape (took me 12 hours though!).
