I'm worried that it will start intefering with my Argus training. so I will stick to the "normal" and only try new things after the ride. Every PRO will tell you, DON'T try new things before a race.

:'( :'( :'( Alright now I don't have quite the redness and tomato look, but, I did 2 X 160Km rides last weekend. On Monday, I went to ride to work (18Km each way) which I do everyday. I was practically standing on the pedals the whole way. Agony. I haven't sat on a bike now in 5 days in a vain attempt to get rid of this pimple (about 1cm long) just to the left of the centre on the crotch. The soreness is a pinching kind when I sit on the saddle.
I have tried Hydrocortisone cream (off the shelf stuff) for the past month (the problem has been there a while but hit a new peak last weekend). The hydrocortisone relieves any itching but doesn't get rid of the pimple. I have tried antibacterial cream specifically for pimple for the last 4 days (active ingredients: Potassium hydroxyquinoline sulphate BPC 0.2% w/w chlorocresol BP 0.2%). Sorry for the clinical details, but I might as well be specific. To get to the point - I can't get rid of this damn thing.... any ideas on what it is???? Help. PS - My local doctor is a chick.... I'd rather see if I can sort this one out before I rush to her for *treatment****! Also - be sure to give me feedback on how you got on... Cheers |

Collumbo. I had a small pimple type problem for about a week at the beginning of the month. Pharmacy recommended something costing about R120 a tube!
So I used Germolene instead and eventually it went away.Sorry, all I can offer is sympathy!. These things are hell! :'( |

I suggest you stay off the bike until this thing has healed. The continued chafing and sweat from bike riding will only continue to aggrivate the little pest. Whenever one of these show up on my body, I use a product called 'Eskamel', available off the shelf at pharmacies. It has antiseptic, keratolytic (a substance that acts to unclog pores) and exfoliative properties. Usually two to three days and the pimple is history.
Remember to dry the area well after showering/bathing. Dampness in that area becomes a nice breeding ground for all sorts of nasties.

FOR BLOKES EYES ONLY!
Update on that dreaded pimple.... Tried off the shelf hydrocortisone cream and germalene for the past 2 weeks --- no improvement whatsoever and Couldn't get my hands on Eskamel. It doesn't appear to be available in the British Isles. So, eventually after 10 days of not touching a bike, I went to the Doc this morning. He basically said that none of the above work really - especially if it's badly infected. He has put me on a course of antibiotics and has prescibed me an anti bacterial cream with a weak steroid, and told me not to cycle for another week. This is the worst possible thing that can happen right at the beginning of the season. For the record if anyone gets one of these dreaded dreaded pests, here's what he has me on: Fluciliin Capsules 500mg (1 three times daily) (Flucloxacillin) And the cream: Fucidin H. (Contains Fusidic Acid and Hydrocotrisone Acetate among other ingredients...) My advice after this chronic experience is see a Doc straight away if you think you have an infection down there.... |

I'm with you on this one Collumbo, because my wife suffers from Eczema, my house is awash with different skin creams, and whenever I get the dreaded itchy sweat rash, Fucidin is the cream that I swipe from my wife's vast collection. Just as a thought, I have tried my wife's Hydrocotisone Cream and it doesn't seem to work, so it must be the Fusidic Acid in the cream that does the job. |

Sheez! I hope you had the doc send it away for analysis? It could return, you know.
Good luck with the recovery.

Hi
I dont know if I would feel good about putting vasiline in my shorts. With all the heat and bacteria there that builds up it seems that would promote saddle sores more. Vasiline is petrolium, it doesnt fight bacteria, they make other things for saddle sores like BUT-ter IN USA. chamois cream is meant for these things. Id try www.google.com and serch there it is a great site and is in all sorts of languages, again Im not one to tell people what to do, its just a suggestion, god knows Ive had some saddle sores in my time, and its not fun! The best ever and inexpensive cream for that tender bottom is Milking Cream, which you can get from your chemist. It really works. Discovered it during a cycling tour to Durban.
