Amazingly, there are not those type of bikes really here in the US, at least not where I am ........ I personally don't see the appeal of them.

If I wanted a straight barred bike, I'd buy a hybrid. The whole idea seems to defeat the purpose of skinny tires and a lighter frame ..... just add a parachute to a regular road frame, it will add that much more work as sitting on straight bars would ...

Keep going to local shops, take some bikes for a spin, see what suits you best. No one can tell you what your are going to like and feel comfortable on, it is really a personal decision. Keep your goals and training ideas in mind, and shop smart. Be patient, and you'll find what you want.

Good luck!

I think its a fairly new design here in UK, but many of our stores are stocking the flat handlebarred bikes. Had a word with some store owner yet again today, his responce was 'all the speed of a racer but with the comfort' In other words not a true racer probably more of a commuter or touring bike. He had a couple of Fausto Coppi's in store with the traditional down bars, so i might pop back in there early next year for a test ride.

You know you can always get a regular road bike and have them change stems and get one with more rise and it would be more upright.

Exclamation

They did use to have models in that range, they will more than likely be Sora components with triples.

I still say give Ebay a shot, I got my Torelli frame for $230, and it retails for over $1,000 ..........
