Alnamvet, I have had nothing but good buys off of ebay. Everything I have bought off of it has been in great condition for a good deal. If anything it is the cheapest way to get a quality bike.

Thats nonsense, there's a lot of great stuff and very good sellers on ebay. Ask, ask, ask, thats all you need to do before buying. Make sure you know every possible detail about the product and buy from people with good feedback only. There are of course never any guarantees you won't get screwed over but if you know what you're doing you should be ok. I've bought lots of bike parts and frames from ebay over the last years and have never had a problem. I also sell all of my old stuff there and every buyer has been extremely pleased with what I have given them.

No nonsense....I know of exactly 26 friends in our bike club who have been screwed by e-bay and their con artist "salesmen". Average loss was about $175 each...each and everyone of them did not buy from the same "vendor". Five of us are attorneys, and it was not worth the effort to recover losses thru litigation. You children are just lucky...in my book, e-bay is nothing more than a crap shoot, with crap for sale, with crap policies on loss and recovery due to fraud. Just a matter of time ladies.....

Well congratulations, you know 26 idiots who apparently can't tell a scam from a legit auction.

And I know of one idiot who can't get over the fact that someone disagrees with him; get over it shipmate, change your Depends, and get on with it; my 26 idiots are representative of thousands who have been ripped off. Like I said, it's just a matter of time, bud....would you like your crow now?

P.S. If you are a schill for e-scam, just say so, so that we all know why you are sucking up to that site.

I disagree with you on just about everything, a lot of people disagree with me and thats ok. I can live with it. Its your constant moronic blanket statements that are of no use to people seeking advice here that are the problem.
Yes its thousands who have been scammed... given the millions of transactions made in ebay that is totally to be expected. Like I said be on the lookout and be a smart buyer and it will be very dificult for you to get scammed. You're blanket statement of stay away from ebay at all costs is just retarded beyond belief. It is the easiest way to get in on some of the best deals is completely moronic and there are thousands of known reputable sellers there, many of whom are bike shops clearing old inventory you can buy from. Why don't you get over the fact that your comment and realize that its perfectly ok to buy stuff from ebay.

Now w'ere getting somewhere...you have serious issues, and tha's ok...there is help for people like yourself. See your local MD for an Rx of Prozac, or perhaps have your lithium levels checked. It is apparent to me that you do not deal well with adversity, have poor coping skills, and just have to be right all the time, or have others tell you you are always right. Get a grip son...it's really ok to disparage others personally, so long as there is a psych component to their behavior. Get help soon guy...it's affecting your objectivity here.

Dude I looked at your bike. Dont sell it whole. Sell frame alone and the fork alone. Clean the derailluer and then sell it off. Do you know what some people pay for Deore stuff??its not bad sell. Also avids can get you some cash. Then upgrade your curent bike. And if thats your current, then buy a new one.

Yeah, i'm part of the Gordon Street Cycles (Port Macquarie) XC Team, so i'm looking at a bike from there, but they dont deal in Kona's. The closest Kona dealer is 500km away so i'll just buy from a reputable australian online merchant.

wow you go to work for a few hours and someone pours a can of petrol on the forum and sets it alight!!

Calm down guys, everyone is entitled to their opinions since this forum is not hosted in north korea or anywhere similarly diplomatic.

I don't want to have to open a can of Whup Ass on anyone

Ebay can be good and it can be bad, just like buying from your neighbour or a huge manufacturer. I've bought some stuff off ebay and never had any problems but i'd be pretty careful about handing over large chunks of cash or taking up offers that are too good to be true

c'mon! go for the cdale!! you'll get a much better frame than any of the other bikes listed there, and you can spend the rest of your days upgrading it out the wazoo.

if that doesn't sound to appealing, i'd say go for the khs. i have an old khs dualie from 96 that i keep around for jumping that rides a lot better than most of my friends' new rides

trekrider4315, I appreciate the input, and if I dont get what I want for it whole, then that is what I will do. For now though there are a few parts on the bike I wouldnt be able to get rid of unless I sold it whole. We'll see what happens I guess.

As for the scams on ebay, some people do try and scam. Just find out what to look for and try and be more careful and you can get some great buys!
