Default Cyclingforums.com THE BEST FORUM EVAR!!!

Gday Trendsetters,

If you are reading this and cant post on this forum you need to understand that this will change in the future and a few reasons as to why this place rocks.

I am posting this because a bunch of clueless sooky seppos want to take their bat and ball and go elsewhere (if you want to leave then just fucking leave dont spam the forum with your self indulgent fucking bullshit). It is only fair that someone explains why following these geriatrics is a bad idea.

If you actually want to learn something about cycling and give a shit about the sport then this place is a great resource.

So what makes cyclingforums.com so good? Let me explain a few things...

1. Some of these idiots trying to convince you this place is no good dont even know who the fuck posts on here. Andy Coggan (world class cycling coach) and Ric Stern (another world class cycling coach) both frequent this forum when time permits. Make no mistake these guys are at the absolute top of the pile in terms of preparing some of europes most elite professional cyclists. Add to this some of Australia's most promising up and coming coaching talent including Alex Simmons and Chris Hitchen. These guys post here too and seriously seriously know their shit. There are others too who I havent mentioned - top coaches in Australia and the US.

2. Top elite level athletes post on this forum - state champions and guys who very very recently have riden for their country for fucks sake! These are the types of people we have here and who are a resource if you know who they are!

3. Some of the most knowledgable cycling historians (they would hate being called as such) post on this forum. I'm not talking about people who remember back to last years tour de france i'm talking about people who can tell you what colour fucking undies Roger DeVlaeminck had on in the 1971 Fleche-Wallonne!! (well maybe not that much detail but you get the picture!)

4. People who own cycling companies post here. These are guys who fucking design and manufacture high end bikes actually post on this forum. These are guys who live and breathe the sport and the industry on a daily basis. That is pretty valuable.

5. Some of the most obsessed gear heads post here too which means you get some pretty cool info on what is worth buying and what is not!! (**cough...Aussie531...cough**)

And...most importantly point number 6...

6. You can say what you want when you want. You get treated like a complete adult even if you choose not to act like one like me. If you have anything to say you can say it without ever worrying about having your post amended or deleted. No other forum comes even close to this place. Its the shit.

Its open slather at cyclingforums.com. If you cant get an account well hang in there it will get sorted out at some point in the mean time make no mistake this place shits all over anything else.

So if you want to follow a few clueless idiots with limited cycling knowledge away from cyclingforums.com then so be it but they wont teach you a fucking thing other than how to be self obsessed and how to tell some really shitty unfunny jokes.

The end.

LOL.

Oh great... Geoff can open the site to new members after it's been closed for 6 months... and bring the owner out of 9 months of hiding... and get him to explain his little spamming storms he unleashed on us.

Please fix it for us Geoff. You finally found a site here where you can call people any profanity under the sun... where you can learn how to cycle after only taking it up a couple of years ago (I'm with you on that one danny boy)

We actually would be very grateful if you could fix it Geoff. Cause we all like it here...

If you want to piss off then piss off. Dont trash talk the owner all over his forum you classless peice of shit.

How do you know whats happening in his life or what are the circumstances? If you dont like it and want to go elsewhere then just go.

I have no idea what is wrong with you Crankyfeet (whoever you are) but you post 24 hours per day. Its pathetic. Normally I couldnt care less but dont walk all over someone else's forum like somehow you are the centre of the fucking universe.

Fark you and fark the owner too. He has logged in on occasion. The last time was the middle of July. He could have spent all of thirty seconds to post a message telling us what is going on. He could have posted, "I just got married. My bros gave me a year's supply of Viagra. I have not had time to maintain the site. Sorry." People would understand. He has not. He has not given us one word. In fact when he stopped the spam by stopping new members from posting, he went out of his way to delete a couple of threads in the feedback forum that complained about the situation.

The owner is AWOL. The site is falling apart, probably due to changes in the server environment that have caused problems (like the user CP not working) that are probably a simple fix. A more malevolent answer is that the owner is deliberately crippling the site to drive people away. Somehow a few spammers have been given posting rights in the last two months. No real users have been allowed to post even though thousands have joined this year. Explain that.

Whatever the reason, the site is no longer viable. It would be nice to find a another place for the community. If the owner does not like us collaborating to find somewhere to move to then he can log in and do something about it. Maybe he could allow a few new posters while he is at it.

The owner has a responsibility just as much as the members. You want to talk about classless then what do you call how the owner has allowed the site to go down the crapper with no explanation on his part? Members here have put in a lot of personal time building the community. We are owed a reason why he has destoyed what we helped build.

I agree with a lot of that. Particularly the mutual obligation point. However, I think you just need to calm down a little. If you want to take your little group of buddies elsewhere then cool just leave a note saying you have all migrated to wherever in your original thread.

There is no need to make it into the parting and crossing of the red sea. And no need to go around making up stories that the owner is 'unleashing spammers' onto the community.

No matter what, I just feel like you dont really have the right to sprout rubbish like 'its not viable and everyone should leave'.

Things will turn around they always do in life.

You really don't get it do you? If we want to sit in TAN all day and just talk with our friends...and come out for a few posts during the TdF... the forum seems fine. Same goes for the FID thread. We could chat all day amongst friends. The reality is that the cycling part of the forum is slowly bleeding to death. The cycling part that you were championing in your OP. You know we could close our eyes... and say "There's no place like home" ten times... but it doesn't change the evidence of what the owner has done with the site. If tomorrow this site was boarded up like Paceline was recently... how would we all contact each other? Or know where to go if we wanted to rejoin a new site together? No new members allowed to post in the last 6 months. Over 6000 new members in limbo. When we dropped a new forum link in the FID recently we had members join the other forum immediately and say that they have been following the forum for months and have been unable to join. The User CP function is farked. What's being done about it? How do we contact admin? Why is the site frequently overloading the server when hardly anyone is posting?

That was the intent of the 'Moving On.' I wanted to give the reason rather than just say we were leaving because to not give what I consider a reasonable explanation seems lame.

I probably should not have posted the thread to the Cafe. When I see noobs post a question there and get no response, I feel bad for them. It does not happen too much anymore with the loss of new posters.

Right up to the time you die. It does not get any better after that. Few forums last very long unless they are major sites that make their owners money. It is just being realistic to recognize when a site is dying and when it is time to move somewhere else. Other wise you end up with a ten member circle jerk that never ends.

Obviously I'm hanging out with a bunch of rocket scientists around here. Took me all of 10 minutes to find the owner of the forum and get him on the blower.

He has been snowed under with work and has a bunch of software updates he has to do to the site and he knows all about the issues. He said next week he should have a window to get some of the problems sorted.

Instead of throwing tantrums some of you seppos need to learn how to get proactive.

Well done mate. I can't wait. That was exactly what Steve said last Christmas.... the last time he spoke with us. But now that he is aware at least one of us knows where he lives... it might actually work.

Perhaps you could explain to the less proactive "seppos" here... how they were supposed to phone the owner... Figowitz?

Why would me knowing where he lives change anything? I'm not going to go around and beat him up if he doesnt do what I say. I'm just passing on what he said. With a bit of luck he might do something so then I dont have to put up with all your whining and moaning!!!
