You may have to ditch Gert. His heart obviously isn't in it. QS were busting their gut at the front of the bunch trying to reel back the break.... unless they were just trying to put seconds between Devolder and Menchov/Ricco.

Maybe some rift between Steegmans and management? Around his signing with Tinkoff? Or the fallout from the Boonen affair?

The perfect ending to an exciting stage - Hinault pushing a protester off the podium!

They attacked immediately after the crash that caused Gomez to pull out. So, I see it as a tactical move. Once they established the break in the peloton, other teams contributed to ensure that they put in as big a gap as possible over the GC contenders who were not in the group.

Interesting stage. Frischkorn was so disappointed at getting second. Vaughters may not appreciate him saying that he wanted to attack at a critical point... but the DS was in his ear and made him hesitate.
Yea, I heard that too. Thing is though, Feillu and Demoulin looked strong enough to have chased him down if he had attacked. They did wait until the battle was well in hand to fight it out. I think the other 3 knew that if they started playing the "who will lead out" game, Frischkorn would have taken the sprint. Well done by Demoulin. He took the biggest risk by attacking first, then he attacked again and took the win. I wanted Frishkorn to win, but I believe the guy with the biggest balls did, and he deserved it IMO.

Nice post TFF.

Though I think Lance proved that you don't need big balls to win...

So Ricco has lost his young rider jersey to Feillu, though I guess A. Schleck will be wearing it tomorrow since Feillu will have the yellow jersey. Menchov is about 45 sec behind Piti.

So what do people think will happen tomorrow? It is kind of a short TT, which means that it will be difficult to gain a significant advantage in time unless the weather is crappy making the roads more treacherous.

What is noticeable is just how well the French riders are performing in the TDF.

Vockler, Delay, Chavanel and the guys in todays breakaway : all three stages have featured French riders.
Not before time.
