Hunter last night didn't even remotely look like he was going to get on top of that big gear he was on. Doesn't he know how to use a gear lever?

What happened to Steegmans? He must have got into the crash... but they never mentioned anything on the coverage that I picked up. QS were leading the peleton with a few km to go.

Probably underestimated how much he took out of his legs on the climb and the grade on the uphill finish.

It must be hard having to go round Hunter. He looks more erratic than Boonen from the front.

Crankster, you actually have to watch yourself with thumper. His only real skill in life is picking podium placers. You should start making bets with someone else if you actually want to win.

yeah, Steegmans crashed, apparently not really injured but his bike was pretty badly damaged. Maybe he was dreaming of his new Tinkoff contract and not concentrating ...

Settle down. You don't win the TdF on stage 2. I think he's peaked too early myself...

Who said I was excited? I was just playing. Actually, he's known for letting others make his pics and then taking credit if it goes well for him . . .(j/k)

So if his team feels he can soldier on until the mountains and his medical condition is expected to improve, he will be expected to stay in the Tour and fight for stage wins. All the better now if he is 30 minutes back in GC. It just means that none of the GC contenders will chase him down.

Now, if he cannot handle the pain and/or is not expected to get better (is the scaphoid fracture confirmed?) then grazie e arrivederci. See you next year.

And for the record, he appears to be a quite a crappy bike handler... always is in the right place for the crash in the peloton. Every time.

well said. it will be more interesting if he can stick it out.

News leaked out that Steegmans signed with Tinkoff. QS is holding back on his vitamins.

I think he should got for the Grand Slam. He should drop out of the Tour, start the Vuelta, crash, injure himself, then drop out of the Vuelta, making it three for three.

I can't see his season lasting past Super Besse.

I guess it all depends on whether he is able to stay upright today. Obviously it must be very rough with injured wrists. Yesterday (Sunday) Eurosport had the cameras on the back of the peloton at the beginning of the stage, and Soler must have almost crashed into the rider in front of him 2~3 times in a couple of minutes. He is a crappy bike handler, compounded with his inability to brake or hold onto the handlebars correctly. A dangerous combination at speed, especially on Stage 3's super flat, balls to the wall racing.

Does not make for easy riding days. Feel bad for him.

Now thatd be somethin!! Maybe they should have a jersey for the unluckiest or most unco-ordinated rider!!!

He will need to pay Julian Dean royalties then. He has copyrighted that technique.
