I've met Lemond twice (he lives hereabouts) as well as having watched much of his career like most everyone else interested in bike racing. In person he's a very nice guy. A little insecure and anxious-seeming in terms of personality. There are, of course, stories about his appearing quite self-important and arrogant. Those may be true, it's just not what I have seen when I have met him. I've not met Lance and have only his many interviews on TV and in the media. His personality seems cocky and abrasive to me, and obsessive and controlling. Those of course are some of the factors that made him as successful as he was. Of the two, I'd rather have Lemond over for dinner than Armstrong. |

They are saying that he took a load of bicycles from them as "personal use" bikes and sold them off cheaply to others thereby cutting out local dealers. They don't have to "prove" a thing. They're telling you WHY they're dropping LeMond. >> 2) When did you meet Lance and/or LeMond in order to make such a >> judgment? > > I've met Lemond twice (he lives hereabouts) as well as having watched > much of his career like most everyone else interested in bike racing. > In person he's a very nice guy. I was under the impression that you lived in the Bay Area since you post on the ba.bicycles site. I met Greg briefly but certainly nothing to form any opinions about him. However, the quotes of him in the press certainly don't make him look particularly good. I did meet Lance's mom and she was a very nice person. Usually and apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. |

Unless...LA promised to bring Kate Hudson along... Actually, I think Floyd would be more interesting dinner-tainment then either Greg or Lance. |

Armstrong does not make the kinds of public statements that LeMond makes. As for what either has done there is no basis for refusing either the respect due to a gentleman except for what LeMond has said. LeMond's long, unbroken history of gratuitous attacks proves that he is no gentleman. -- Michael Press |

I heard a long interview with him on radio about two years ago, and I thought he was a petty, obviously jealous whiner. He also made statements/accusations that he couldn't possibly prove. Armstrong's a class act compared to Lemond. |

In my experience, you cannot judge someone by the way they're being presented in the media. |

He has been consistently disparaging. If he thinks he is misrepresented in the media he has the choice to speak well of others for public consumption. -- Michael Press |
