With blood passport programs and Astana's anti-doping measures I would see all of this as a challenge to Ferrari. No doubt Bruyneel would have consulted Ferrari before embarking on the whole "new-Astana" team to ensure his racehorses could still dope and skirt the controls. Ferrari would love beating these controls perhaps as recompense for Vino going down.

Simoni's team on the front leading the chase now. You think they're helping out Ricco for the stage win? Simoni and Ricco still friends despite being rivals, could be forming a wee alliance to double team Astana come the mountains?

Is Rujano still in the 2nd group? That would explain why Giovanni had his team chasing. He knows that that Rujano is an obvious GC threat.

And Contador easily follows the attack of DiLuca who appears to have put himself in a world of pain as Ricco forces the pace.

The other contenders (Simoni/CSC/High Road/Pelizotti) can't give these four a minite advantage before the proper mountains have even begun. Who's leading the chase?

Looks like mostly Simoni's team, Menchov attacked at one point but is now back in the group of ~20 riders.

DiLuca & Ricco put in a surge in the last 500m and drop Contador..... geez Kloden looked good coming over the line..... suggest he should be team leader even though he was 45 seconds or so back...

And of course the interesting factor of which we have no insight is the transfusing situation of the various riders. Hard to say exactly where any of these riders are if you can get dozens of watts improvement within a few hours by filling up the tank.

I'm still highly skeptical that it isn't going on with the big riders.

Yep I'm with you..... I have to say DiLuca's attack was ridiculous...... it was an all out sprint uphill for about 5 minutes straight...... like he was was flying.....

No sign of Levi coming across the line ? Did they let Levi ride ?
