Well maybe that's why he is having a hard time at the moment. The wind is blowing right in his face...

Thanks Lim,

So could we understand that since the recent failure McQuaid is trying to play solo and not follow Verbruggen?
Or the 2 are playing each one different card to stay in control of UCI?

excuse me..i rushed

Sylvia Schenk, former candidate UCI president, knows power politic..Verbruggen and Pat connct by omerta about Verbruggen corruption..

I don't know.

At a guess, I would reckon that McQuaid would sell Verbruggen down the river if it came down to a choice between self preservation and Verbruggen/UCI.

But then I don't know what has gone on between the Road Race owners (ASO etc) and UCI, to know if McQuaid is likely to break with the past (Verbruggen/UCI).

MCQuaid is very astute................if the race organisers look like they'll win the war, he'll back them to the deteriment of the UCI.
If the race organisers look like they won't win.......he'll continue to sing the UCI song.

As far as I know Schenk did not candidate for the UCI presidency. She supported the Spanish candidate (against McQuaid) and stepped down as president of the German Cycling Federation after she found out that Sinkewitz wasn't sent home from the Worlds in Plouay because he had the flu but because of his high H. level. She wasn't informed about it, made trouble and was mobbed out of office.

CH, you correct but …Sylvia Schenk left BDR from Christian Lademann dope problem, not from Sinkewitz problem (totally other yr. 2000 problem to Sinkewitz)…after Athens…she very principal honest signora…she bullied by ungentlemen like Verbruggen and Armstrong…she can not speak all she know…they scare her by law courts..UCI keep 4 contract attorney full time…read this

Then he tried to put pressure on me. At the World's in Hamilton (Canada, 2003) he yelled and swore at me. I just tried to keep calm and we did talk sensibly after that again, but in the meantime he said to me, 'It's a man's world, and you're a woman, so you have to adapt.' That was his most important point, so to speak. [laughs] In Hamilton, he told me I should think very carefully about what I do, as I was damaging the Federation and myself. He said he could see to it that I wouldn't get re-elected just like the other Italian president [Giancarlo Ceruti]. So he threatened me massively. And I'm the kind of person who speaks her mind, openly, not behind someone's back. I can be convinced of something, I can agree to a majority but the topic should be sensibly discussed first. I won't be forced, and I won't be bought.

"Since 1998 the UCI has done a lot to combat doping but everything is different where Armstrong is concerned," added Schenk,

Schenk also pointed to the fact that Armstrong, shortly after a damaging book – David Walsh’s “LA Confidential” - was published claiming he had regularly used doping products, handed Verbruggen a hefty check

Well... she told me (personally) it was the Sinkewitz case, it just came out later..... The Lademann case came on top of it....
