Did you follow the instructions for installing Proxomitron first? See http://www.proxomitron.info/45/help/Installation.html My instructions are for installing the filters only. Go through all the steps for installing Proxomitron and then for installing the filters. Make sure you've followed all the steps correctly. Last edited by Squint : 02-03.-2008 at 10:18 PM. |

![]() Proxomitron main window looks different to the window they show in the instruction manual though. I don't seee any of the tabs they mention. ![]() I even uninstalled it and reinstalled the zip version, which is a pain since it doesn't appear in the program files list now. Whatever, it doesn't work and I don't know enough to work out why. |

While the spam on thius forum is still all there, it's doing something - I've noticed some other behaviour:
On some forums ads animation has been stopped, which is nice (e.g. Pez) Other forums the ads don't appear (e.g. slowtwitch) But the text editor for generating posts/replies no longer works (e.g. slowtwitch) |

Restarting the computer isn't necessary. What do you mean by localhost changed? You mean you configured the proxy settings in your browser? Quote:
The above picture isn't from Proxomitron but a web browser. The instructions at that URL doesn't have any screenshots of Proxomitron. They're all screenshots from a browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.). Quote:
Proxomitron has textures and skins so it can look very different. But it won't look like the proxy configuration for your browser. The installation process just extracts the files and creates a shortcut. If you used the zipped version, which I did, you only need to create a shortcut to Proxomitron.exe. Ideally, you'd put it in your StartUp folder so it starts automatically with Windows. It's a very simple process. You're probably missing something obvious. With a better description of what you've done, it should become clear to me what you need to do. |

http://www.proxomitron.info/45/help/CfgT2.html#foo I've found that one now but it didn't help. Quote:

But I'm no dill either. The default file was amended exacly as suggested, and the jerks list is in the lists folder exactly as you described. Installed as per instructions. Twice. Software like this that takes too long to install and get working costs money IMO. But now it's screwing with other legit sites - e.g. I can't place/confirm orders, use text editors on forums - it seems to be disabling legit functions I do need. And all the spam is still there. I've disabled it now, more headaches than it's worth, when really, the problem is with the forum, not my computer. |

PM me the default.cfg file from the Proxomitron directory. That is, if PMs can take attachments. You could always just paste it or rename it to a txt file.
It sounds like you have Proxomitron working since it's interfering with stuff. But you probably also have some of the default filters active. I'll fix it up and check that the cyclingforums-specific filters are setup properly. |

Alright, I created my own zipped up version but with the blocklists and all modifications to the config already done. In addition, the default filters (i.e., the ones that were not specifically written by me for cycling websites but rather are generic in nature) are all disabled by default. All the filters that I wrote are specific to certain domains (e.g., cyclingforums.com) and shouldn't affect any other sites. All one should have to do is unzip the contents to wherever you place your programs (c:\network\ for me, probably c:\program files\ for most others), create a shortcut to Proxomitron.exe in your StartUp folder, set the proxy settings in your browser, and run Proxomitron. That should make things simpler and eliminate any sources of confusion. And I hope my file hosting works... |

Most recent filters for those who figured out how to use Proxomitron.
I couldn't think of a good reason why the 4 cyclingforums.com filters couldn't be run simultaneously so I now have all four running but reordered them so that the more specific username filters are first. Other tweaks include removing ad-related Javascript and tracking scripts. Also, Cyclingnews changed their layout slightly so the left ad column reappears on some pages. Some filters have been renamed. No blocklists have been updated. This is a complete set of cycling-related filters so you can remove all the old ones. Code:

Does it do other weird stuff? - like I'm having lots of problems with the google groups wattage forum now.
I keep getting Matrix like screen images telling me site's busy etc and it half complete screen pages. Drives me nuts. Have to reload pages 4 or 5 times to see them in full, if I'm lucky. |

Thanks Squint for the effort to help out. I still think the forum owner needs to address the issue. |

Latest, complete collection of cycling website filters. I also attached the two blocklists though they haven't seen any major additions.
