They were agog over Andy Schleck's performance. They all should have realised then, that the performance was not clean, nor was Daamsgard's program effective. |

Guess that is why Johan must have chosen to go with the same program then, eh?
I have to think about the Andy thing. I honestly would like to believe that EVERY good performance is not due to PEDs. If I get that cynical, I'll stop following cycling. |

he87 ask Simoni what he thinks about Schleck's performance? He said "so much for the new clean generation" |

But that is just Simoni bitching as usual. I am not all that familiar with Simoni but it always seems like he's making assumptions or shooting his mouth off.
I can COMPLETELY understand his beef with Ivan Basso's 2006 performance in the Giro. Oh, wait, that was "clean" though because he was only going to "attempt" to dope for the Tour (please note the heavy sarcasm). I would like to see if Andy can continue to show he's something. I remember some amazement at his good ITT in the Giro when he brother absolutely sucks at it. Frank certainly faded in 2007 compared to 2006. He's not GT caliber, IMO. |

The Schlecks send up all of the red flags in my book. Its a shame because I really enjoy watching both of them ride. Maybe I'm just jaded.

I can understand the doubt re Schlecks.
The CSC connection doesn't help either. I reckon that both guys are very very good cyclists. Does that mean I think they're clean? Given the rash of cases over the past few years, it would be foolish to assume that any top rider is clean.

I pretty much assumed that, based on his poor 2007 performance, Frank probably was not clean in 2006. Not sure if he did anything to aid performance in 2007 but if he did, he should get his money back. I am not blindly saying that Andy is clean. I just never really contemplated the thought that he'd dope. I have not been an avid fan of cycling in any real depth long enough to form that kind of cynicism yet. I am a cynic at heart though. Used to be a US Postal/Disco fan cheering on Lance. While I still think Lance was a great cyclist, I assume he doped to win all of his Tours and that Johan was a master at disguising it all. I cheered against Discovery all of last year. I went from wanting to see Levi do well prior to Disco to wanting to see him fail when I see this big leap in performance from him. It is amazing to me to still see how much the U.S. cycling fans truly think Big George is a great climber. I think he showed his lack of climbing in 2006 TDF and thereafter. I've come to realize that his stature precludes him from slugging through a top-of-the-line mountain stage at the Tour. I would like to think that CSC has seen the light. However, I've really only heard Fabian ever say anything against doping and I know he has some shadows with his relationship with Cecchini. I will cheer more and more for teams that have an anti-doping program AND talk against it. So far, that's Slipstream and High Road. |

I think some of the CSC riders got off the sauce in the last couple of years. Dave Z. may have seen what happened to his buddy FLandis and decided he did not want the same thing to happen to him. Julich is now phoning it in, happy to work as a domestique at the end of his career. On the other hand, Basso must have given Cancellara his list of contacts before he left the team.
