Kloden had a contract through 2008. They would have had to pay him for the full 2008 season to get rid of him. But with the way the germans were handling the Ullrich and T-Mobile situation, it was obvious that Kloden would eventually get entangled. They should have just paid him off.

Maybe Kloden's lawyers could make a case that even if he were paid for the 2008 season, not being able to race would damage his chances of getting a good contract for 2009, so he deserves more money than what Astana owes for the 2008 season.

I think there is evidence to suggest that T-Mobile had a clique that was given full support and outsiders to that clique who were on their own. There are too many examples of riders who went to T-Mobile and their performance suffered. The classic example is Botero who went from Kelme to T-Mob to Phonak. His performance took a downturn when going from Kelme to T-Mob, but miraculously improved when he went to Phonak. Other riders who had similar patterns are Julich, Evans, Savoldelli, Livingston, etc. T-Mob was famous for hiring top end riders and not getting anything out of them.

Between Rogers and Guerini I would choose Rogers as being on his own as far as medical preparation goes.

you are right with the assumptions, wrong conclusion.

I think Guerini was getting on, and I see Rogers great ride, I just conclude they did not go to the effort for Guerini but got Rogers on the plan.

Ofcourse, it might be Guerini is old, and he sucked, but he was never to be seen in the mtns. And the only time Rogers has really shown great form was in the 2005 Tour de Suisse.

I hear you TFF, but just in case you decide to go in there with guns blazing instead of the respectful way you went in the first time, give an announcement in FID so that I have a chance to watch the spectacular fireworks...

speaking of fireworks, there is thread revision actively going on atm on DPF on this topic (Sinkewitz naming Kloeden) - so anyone who wants to see some of the original stuff there had better check it out quickly before complete sanitization occurs .

It looks like that thread is already sanitized to a certain extent unfortunately. Funny how the hardcore fans are clinging on to all sorts of things to find holes in the reporting (this is with regard to Hombre's play on "reportedly admitted").

actually, I think it was Vaun Trevi's editing that emphasized the "reportedly admitted" in the first post of that thread - it isn't clear, but other than the first paragraph or so I think currently the rest of that post is actually from Vaun not Hombre...

Do you really want Casa back? One cannot even argue rationally with him. But I think he will be absent for a while - he seemed really pissed off with the way Helmut played with him last time.

What do you guys think will happen to Astana if an investigation is launched and they find Kloden guilty?
Does it matter which team he is in now if he gets blown for doping under T-mobile?

Astana will look like what they are, a haven for riders who want to have the most sophistocated doping techinques. It is kind of their MO, and now that JB is at the helm, they will also have the most sophistocated masking techniques.

My guess is that Bruyneel will happily kick out Kloeden, and then say that Astana is truly new and clean with all the old people out of the team (or will someone else be left there?)... I don't know if this will affect Astana itself any more than the current situation; but Kloeden can probably start thinking of retiring.

Okay, I've seen the acronym in other threads now but cannot figure it out.
Could someone please relieve me of my ignorance and tell me what FID means?

The "This Forum Is Dying" thread at the top of the page. Come on up. You're welcome.
