DUh - I get acupuncture, take gobs of vitamins and go to a chiropractor to ward off viruses, and I make all my kids go too. I can't believe how many times I hear that.

So -- maybe this is natural/intellectual selection in progress. The great majority of people that are vaccinated to things like small pox and other insidious diseases, that don't have an adverse reaction, get to live and pass genes on to the next tribe, and live to suggest that offspring get vaccinated too - or hopefully live long enough to develop natural antibodies to disease and pass those traits on. Those that don't get the help of vaccines, get to die and leave their legacy and choices in the ground that they are buried in. Let it be man, let it be. Not really -- just trying to make a point...

Right on, man. I bet all 20-40 million people that died, on Earth in 1918-19 as a result of the Spanish Flu are really happy, now, that there wasn't a vaccine for it. And I hope, for gods sake, that scientists won't be able to develop a vaccine against the Bird Flu if it mutates and becomes actively spread by humans, because the last thing anyone would want would be to have someone live when they should have died, instead, from the bird flu.

Hmmm. I wonder if there's anything else that people should never have or never be vaccinated for because they really should man-up and let their body fight of those nasty viruses by itself.....hmmmm. Let's see:
  1. Smallpox
  2. Viral Rabies
  3. anthrax
  4. Polio
  5. Croup
  6. Hepatitis
  7. Measles
  8. Viral Meningitis
  9. Mumps
  10. Rubella.......

We need to bring back the good old days, when good folk just died of these diseases instead of surviving by not having faith in their body's powers of healing.

I'd like to declare that if another Spanish Flu strain comes around capable of killing swathes of people (even the ones older than 5 and younger than 65)... you WON'T be innoculated against it in your annual flu shot.

And the whole Bird Flu scare was as much hype as Y2K. People in America were even avoiding eating poultry. "This bird flu would be really scary if it learnt how to migrate from human to human" the WHO were telling us. What the eff was that all about? Other than promulgating fear. What were people supposed to do to protect themselves? WHO fear = political power increase. Influenza fear = increase in $billion flu shot industry.

You Americans are so easy to scare.

Just my 4c.

Awe c'mon now that is just an unfair generalization. So, we stocked our basement with bottled water and enough food to last 2 years, bought anti-viral masks, took our kids out of school, mapped our escape route to a remote part of Saskatchewan, stocked up on ammo for the guns we will use to keep the chicken zombies away and put up an anti-foul dome over my house. Didn't everyone do that ? Buuuckaaawwwwwck !!!!

Ahh yes - medically known as gastroenteritis. I had that about a month ago - NOT FUN....

Huskey,

Love your style!...... It just occurs to me that maybe we all should stay away from the forum! After all there are those who think the forums are in the death throws. You'd have to wonder about some of the people who post here, me included we probably all a little unhealthy mentally at least.

BTW I have a flu shot every year and swear by the efficacy of them.

Kind regards,

Good to know you are still alive and kicking. As far as staying away from the net ,I doubt the forums are dying from the flu so there is probably no danger.
Mental health in my opinion is a matter of debatable definition and choice.

Have gotten the flu shot for the last four years, and have only had two bouts of relatively mild flu in that time. Pretty good average, I would say, especially with two kids in school...
