I find that I get my best results on the trainer - I find it hard to keep the wattage up on downhills.

Default Re: 2008 Ftp?

This is my first post to this thread (look way down on the list). I've had the PT SL for just over a year. I was trying to be a crit racer but decided to play to my strengths and focus on climbing and longer events. I get about 5-8 hours a week of riding in. My FTP has gone up some over the last few months but is still a lower than I would like. I did some good climbing this past weekend and on 7, 3.5, and 1.5 mile climbs I averaged a little over 285W. My goal is to get over 4w/kg. I haven't tested since April, so I'm hoping my next test will be better but I'm having too much fun riding outside to kill myself on the trainer for an hour. Maybe I'll do my next test while watching one of the TDF time trials.

Sorry, just had to put another race value in because I'm damn proud of it and my legs are still aching 4days later

What kind of TT was that? And what where your results?
1h45m @ 0.9375 is impressive or is your FTP higher?

50mile TT.

I've been racing a fair bit recently, so inevitably powers have been up and down. I was under the impression my FTP was around mid 340's, but maybe it's a bit higher than that based on this result. An FTP test wouldn't tell the truth at the moment though as I really struggled to do 2hrs at 270W last night. Still feeling the effects of the race!

Uh, so what was your time and race result? I'm interested in knowing where does 5w+/kg place a person on the results page....with the presumption you're not a pro...

Top 10's at UK National TT champs (over 10miles (9th), 25miles (=6th) & 50miles (6th)). 2nd overall in the National TT series (hilly/technical TT's over ~30miles) with 1 win.

Far from Pro! I have a full time job and a 2 young kids that I strive not to neglect (and also a couple of Rabbits now!). We don't have many domestic pro's over here, and none that I know of that only TT (some roadies & of course the track team).

A question for everyone: Is this list supposed to reflect the current FTP or 2008 best FTP? It seems that everyone only updates it when they improve. Nothing wrong with that as long as we all agree on the proper form. Because of injury I'm currently not living up to my previous results, so I feel somewhat unworthy of being up there.

Thanks for the info. 5+w/kg can get you high up on the list indeed!

Well done with regard to your past results and hope you gather more in the future.

That's why mine is on the list .

Or do what rmur has done and put in more than one entry.

Since I have't done more than 40-min on the trainer or any kind of test, I really don't know what my real FTP is.

I even got "accused" (in a nice way) of underestimating my FTP (set at 150W) by a mate last night since my CTL is going up so quickly. I mean I am at 9 TSS/day after 2 weeks .
