BTW, the one about Astana being "America's team" was by the infamous Jeff Vader.

Check this out.

"Please forgive me if this is something I should know. Who is "ASO.""

That question was made by Jeff Vader today.

Cool. Saluki has given up:

"In any case that does it for me. Now cyclists are being chucked without any hard evidence against them. This is Euro-fascism at work. None of the best riders are able to compete. Lame, untalented teams are being put in the place of exceptional teams. I'm out of this sport!"

That is so beautiful, it brings a tear to my eyes...

now what's amazing is that the following posters agreed with that statement and then follow on by bitching about Slipstream, an American team.

And I wonder as to how many of them are really geographically challenged, and really think that Astana is an American team. Scary.

The paceline posts are so out there that even the DPers are making fun of them. Someone posted a link to the thread on the paceline.

In typical DP style, some are complaining that making fun of the paceline is a personal attack since some people are members of both sites.

The paceline response is what you would expect from a cult though.

These guys must become lobbyists. Their spin capability will be lauded there.

I can understand some of the reactions. You know if the paceline folks want to wallow in, well grief that's fine. They can send badly worded emails and letters to ASO and well it just makes them sound naive and young and ...

But what I really don't get is the venom being spouted against High Road and especially Slipstream. Wishing them to crash for example.

Of course, I could also do without the xenophobic reactions too...

well maybe I don't understand their reactions

Oh and got to admit that my favorite reaction so far is the apoplectic fit by Hombre

You got to give credit to some of them, who see that they will all be dismissed as "arrogant Americans" by the French.

There were a few theories suggested in this forum as to why they would hate Slipstream especially (strained relations between Vaughters and Armstrong, who relates to JB etc.). But I can understand some of the venom, such as wishing them to crash. It arises from great bitterness and jealosy towards a rival/enemy. In such cases, the failure of the enemy team can give more pleasure than the success of your fan team - highly immature, but that's the way it is...

One of the more amusing things about the comments of a lot of these Paceline and DP dudes is how "they are not going to watch this year's Tour". As if their watching is the missing link to making the Tour happen.

I am going to use the aso link to send them a thank you email letting them know how great I think their decision was. And I will try to buy as many of the things from their sponsors as I can afford.

Astana, America's team? WOW!

You would think that people who really like the forum they post on and the people they post with would spend more time discussing the subject of the forum instead of obsessing over what people on other forums are saying. Of course we are talking about the subject of obsessive hate for certain people/entitites taht is pervasive here, so it's not much of a surprise.
