If you do, let us know so we can pile on. Actually, we need someone who knows the forum well enough to give us the dirt on a few key players.

I post over at CF, and while it is tempting to treat you with contempt, I will refrain. What you don't see is that we are passionate about the sport. Most of us are long time fans who remember following most races in cycling magazines 2 months after they occurred, or the Tour top 5 in the back of the paper. You think what you will, but we are as passionate about the sport as anyone you will find. What we detest it the atmosphere that has been created by the people you appear to worship. Many of us cheered on your heroes right up to the point where we realized that they were liars, that the physical reality is that a non-doped cyclist is incapable of winning consistently against one who dopes.(specifically blood doping) We find it incomprehensible that now, in an era where the reality that everyone from Sly to Clemens' wife are using HGH and other "enhancers, you could look at the feats of cyclists in the past 10-15 years and seriously believe that most were clean. We want our sport back! Think what you will, but we aren't willing to put those we once yelled for in a special category. We are not hero worshipers. We are realists who know enormous amounts about cycling, physiology, and the human capacity to seek the path of least resistance in pursuit of achievement. We read your books, we watched your races, and we denied the reality ourselves. Then one day we just couldn't take any more lies. Lies piled on lies about twins and the evil French and their corrupt labs and who was the most tested athlete in history. You can cast us as misfits with hateful families and sad lives if you wish. We just want our sport back, and attitudes and denial such as yours will only prolong that day. It really is as bad as you imagine in your worst fears. That isn't coffee you smell, it is honesty and truth. Here, I won’t make fun of you, but come to CF and you will find that your postings will be dissected and ridiculed. Hey, it is our place, and this is yours. I imagine one difference is that there, your posts will stand regardless of content. My experience with places like this, DP, and Trust but Verify is that posts such as mine are deleted. I hope your mods are brave enough to let it stand.

Congrats. You guys have only shown once more that you have no class and can only act like a bunch of prepubescent children. I'd think twice about stirring up trouble over there because they actually have moderators that moderate. Mercury |
