I just take issue with the amount of rules in place there and the enforcement of those rules. It's a forum dynamic really. I don't blame any one person. I've respectfully expressed my views and as I've said before, it's Vaughn's playground to do with as he pleases. He provides the service, so he has the right to demand that people follow his rules if they want to partake in his forum.
Nothing to do with you. I know you and would never put you in with the people here. The only problem with the DP is certain enforcers of the rules (not just ones who don't agree with me) not the rules. Just look at how far down the hole this place goes at times.

Well, talk cycling then. What are you waiting for?

Check out the Lemond thread. We're talking about the '89 and '83 world championships. Why don't jump in there and spread some knowledge?

Dude, you remind me of one of those evangelical preachers who talks tough about homosexuals when he doesn't have a cock in his mouth.

Come on, you fuckin' homo. You love it here!

I agree with you, with one qualifier . . . you also don't need THAT many rules to attain the same result. The amount of rules is ridiculous really. "Poster, you are hereby in violation of rule 532(6)(b)(iv) . . . ."

Edit: Example, now we're going to make a rule about quoting posts on other forums? As, moderator, just delete it if you don't want the quote. Do we need to really go the authoritarian route of creating a new rule, expecting the members to read and memorize the rule, etc? It's a friggin' internet forum. Again, people don't read their purchase agreements on homes and vehicles, but they are expected to know and be able to recite 50,000 forum rules?

Actually if you look there are very few rules.

See this post as to the kind of things rules prevent:

I got banned by Ric Stern? Does he have a site? When did that happen? And, a belated thank you to Lim for bringing me back.

Listen, I happen to know for a fact that you didn't start following the sport of cycling until after 1999 and that you are overweight, have never raced a bicycle and can't even ride in a group without people getting pissed and telling you to ride a straight line.

I understand your point and also understand the concept of having rules to prevent trolling, harassment, bullying, etc. But, when I checked out the DP rules way back when, I must say I was genuinely amazed at how many there were and how lengthy/detailed they were.

11 rules is a lot of rules? That's a lot less then most forums, but ok.

You must have me confused with Thunder.

Well, I guess I'm perusing different forums than you. But, to my recollection, there are subsections to the rules and they consist of paragraphs of phrasology. For an internet forum, yes, I think that's a lot. But, it sounds like perhaps you've perused places with more so we apparently just have different experiences.

Nope, I have a very reliable source on this. She's been on rides with you and says people constantly complain about your inability to ride a straight line or use any peloton protocol.

Here's a little test.

Explain a rotating echelon in detail. Tell me your secrets about staying out of the wind. How do you decide which direction to rotate?

Talk cycling? Lets.

Well if you are just talking about the headers then there are just three. Actually looking again there are nine rules. Do a google search and you will see that nine rules is average or low.

*yawn* You really should stick to doping with your buddies, homophobic posting, since you are terrible at trolling.

Okay, let's not talk about cycling. Let's instead talk about how everyone on this forum talks about anything but cycling.

Let's talk about your cycling.

Last week on a ride, you ran someone into a pothole because you failed to point it out. Remember? You said, "I was afraid to take my hands off the bars." Remember, the kid double flatted and nearly crashed?

Or how about the time you rode off the side of the road and did a face plant in the dirt because the group was being attacked by a dog. Funny, no one else ran off the side of the road?

Or how about the time you crossed wheels (google it) and caused a huge pile up in a memorial ride? Remember? Ride of Silence? Yeah, super competitive ride that was. Hardest part for you was keeping your mouth shut.

Do you wonder why so many people refuse to ride with you? Because they value their lives.
