I know it's different strokes for different folks but indoor 24 hours in
my mind would be absolute torture. If anyone has ever run indoors the
classic dry air raises havoc on your lungs if the thousands of little
loops don't drive you nuts. Even outside on a 1/4 or even two mile loop
would miss the dry air but still make one loopy. I do a 5k loop 10 times
for 50k and that's about the extent of the monotony I can tolerate.

Some like spending a summer running some long trail would be something
more intersting. As long as videos is the genre takea look at David
Horton's 2,700 mile Pacific Coast trail run.

and if you're still bored an interview With Scott Jurek before the
sparathlon 2007.

Mon - indoor row (C2), 40 min, moderate
Tue/Thu - bike to work (3hr30 total)
Wed - run, 6.1 mi, 43:xx, very easy
Fri - rest
Sat - rest
Sun - 26.2k race, 1:36:48 (5mi splits: 29:40, 30:18, 29:32)

Goals:
Dec 15 - Celtic 5mi (maybe)
spring - possible marathon

Had a better race on Sunday than I expected. 3 seconds faster than
last year, which had already been a good race. A good recovery from
the crappy 10k on Thanksgiving. Thanks to Anders for the positive
thoughts.

You were really ecstatic about last year's race:

Awesome to beat that, congrats!

Goals: Recover from Marathon so as to start the new year fresh and ready
to tackle the 2008 Grand Prix. Including speedwork this year.

Mon: Rest Day
Tue: 3.5 mi on the treadmill, 9:40 oa pace, started slow and increased
to 8:30 pace.
Wed: Same
Thur: Same but slower.
Fri: DNR, home late from work, and it's POURING outside...
Sat: 3.5 mmi on tread, slow. Worried about tomorrow, weather still
sucks....
Sun: Tucson Marathon. Made primary goal of "under 4". (3:59:30). Was
running pretty steadily until 24, then my hip/ham on the right side
started cramping up. Unfortunately I then dropped down to 12's,
whereas I had been under 9 up until then. Was 527/1017, 7/33 in AG,
158/400 women. Age-grade looked much better, I was 186/1017. WIll
try to find some time to write a report later. BTW, the weather was
fantastically beautiful after all, near perfect. Oh, it was still a
BQ at least.

Total: 33.7 mi

Bummer! I know you'd been wanting to do this one for awhile!!! But yes,
we're still in prime race season, so lots available. Good luck with that
cold!!

Still not far from 9 min/mi with around 9:08 min/mi overall pace.
Congrats on BQ and the under 4 goal. How do you feel now?

Thanks. I checked the results last night; I would have been the only
finisher in the 65-69 age group had I not caught this cold. I'm just
starting to get over it; I haven't been out of the house since getting
back from Thursday morning's run.

I've registered for a three-mile race New Year's Eve in Phoenix, and for
the Lost Dutchman half marathon on Feb 17th. I'm going to volunteer to
help out at the Rock and Roll in Phoenix in January.

Congrats on making your primary goal and achieving a BQ in the Tucson
Marathon.

He did rather disappear from the face of the earth didn't he?

Amazing what you fine when you google. Looks like it was me wot did it.

Of course Charlie started it but it seems that my last post was the one that
finished him off. His company that organised races
(www.absolutelyaccurate.com) seems to have died a death, any races that were
organised by it now no longer seem to exist. (Can't claim credit for that.)

Tim
(Not proud of this in any way, but hoping to shed a little light about his
disappearance from rec.running)

There is a David at the runner's forum of Live Journal who is doing the
same weekly thing; his introduction to the thread is identical to what
is used here.

Looks like I missed some later posts of his when he changed address. Last
one here was Aug 20th 06 (I think). Guess he just got bored of the trolls.
