Answering your initial question, I've a sort of tested myself on a bike with SRM (not mine but absolutely my size). It looks like I'm having an FT for a very mediocre 2 cat rider... Is it cool? Cycling was the only sport I've done seriously (9 years up to now, I'm 33 now) being a couch potato before. ![]() |

i am a newbie. i don't think i've made any outrageous claims. i am happy to admit that i ride on all flat land (it's all we have around here.) i average around 17 mph. i had thought seriously to pick the user name of "le lanterne rouge" when i signed up here.
i did make a post because (after literally years of not riding) i was able to ride 34 miles in just under two hours .. again, on a flat course. and, as one of the posters noted, for some of us who are literally miles from any biking community, it is nice to get some affirmation that we are doing okay. i am no cycling threat to anybody here. not trying to impress anybody. just looking for a little comraderie (did i spell that right?) and support. one of my main fears here is that i will run into a bunch of bike snobs.... i went to the nearest bike store (100 miles away) last week. after i told them what i wanted, and what i was riding... several of them laughed and suggested i come back when i had a real bike.... if i had the money, i likely would. but for now, i ride what i can afford.... and when i can afford a "real bike" i will make a point of going to the next bike shop down the road to make my investment. anyway, my point is... i guess.... if you know a poster is full of crap, just ignore the posting and move on.... if you let the posting eat at you, maybe you should look at yourself and ask why such posted nonsense bothers you. after all..... isn't this about riding? okay, the newbie is done. i'll shut up and go stand in the corner. be, jim |
