Ride the trainer, go for a run or it's your recovery day.

The bike won't dissolve, nor will you. I stay out of the mountains or unsafe/unnecessary descents. Once you're wet, it simply won't matter.

Rainy season is here in Japan, so it's something I'm coming to accept. At least it's warm! (rain and cold is a different story)

LOL And I was sure I would dissolve, so always train indoors when it rains.

Seriously though OP, get on the trainer, grit your teeth, feed your ears with some trance and do 2x20 @ ? watts, then 1hour or so at 220 watts. That was my workout on the trainer in the gym today. 1 hour of serious FT intervals and 2minute intervals at 350 watts. (trainer limit )Then 1 hour of spinning at 180-220watts

Cheers! Tyson

What's your relationship with that Wicked Witch of the East?

Anyway, here's an explanation on the effect of WATER.

Good news Tyson! They say it'll be a short rainy season this year.

I don't mind as long as it doesn't rain on Sundays as it always seems to do.

However, in about 3 weeks from now I shall be where the rainy season extends from January to December - ENGLAND!

Thanks for that sogood. Talking of the Wizard of Oz, this girl is absolutely amazing for 6 years old. Brought tears to my eyes.

For me, it always depends on the temperature while it's raining. ie; if it's warm, I'll ride in the rain, but if it's bone-chilling cold, then why risk lowering your immunity and getting sick?
When I lived in southern Japan, I rode no matter what the weather. But up here in Hokkaido, it can be chilly even in summer, so it depends on if it's a "warm rain" or a "chilled-to-the-bones" rain. But even then, if you're dressed appropriately and stay warm when wet, I've always found that I get a better workout outdoors than on the trainer; In fact, riding in the rain makes me feel like Superman I hate the trainer, with no external stimuli or variation, I find it uninspiring.

Just go out and ride. Its only rain. As long as your not freezing, you should be fine.

Could be like me.. and see this in your forecast, for the next 4 days, and the forseeable future beyond that until mid-July.

If you decide to use it as a recovery day... Good for you! Fix a gormet meal... watch "Breaking Away" ONE MORE TIME! Shop ebay for yet another bicycle "gotta have", get brownie points by saying to your better half, "I was going to ride in this rain anyway, but I have decided to spend it with you." (Brownie Points!). You could stay home and search through these forums for hours on end. If it is July and you are in the USA, you should be watching the Tour on the Versus Network. I live in Florida and work in Guam, so unless it is a typhoon or hurricane I can still do some high energy athletics.

PS: I asked a similar question on this forum and it can be found/read here:

The Polar bears in the Melb Zoo apply to take winter holidays in Antarctica rather than stay in Melbourne for the winter!

Remember in AUS it is winter, shortest day of the year tommorow, so wet, cold, slippery, dangerous and dark

Has to be the trainer i'm afraid ( but in my case I rather enjoy these tortuous devices)
