I'm having the same problem with my new 2.4. First few rides, it was fine. On the 5th and 6th ride, 20-30 two to three second drops on each 2.25 hour ride. The local distributor/retailer tested it and was able to replicate the drop signals on a trainer at the shop. They replaced the head unit and we tested it on the trainer - it worked fine. First road ride with the new head unit, drop signals again! 20-30 drop signals over a 2.25hr ride. It was an 80km ride and the computer only recorded 62km and a trip time of under 2 hours. gogoturtle, did you ever get the problem fixed? |

Yes, mine works fine now. Call Saris, run through your problem with them. They will ask you to send it back and replace the hubs innards. In the year or so since mine was fixed it's been bombproof. Good luck. |

I agree that a product with that price tag should work flawlessly assuming that the fault is with the product not less than ideal installation.

I have two PT 2.4 wheel sets, a ZIPP 404 and a ZIPP 808.
My 404 has been pretty much perfect but the 808 drops have been pretty siginifcant. I am working with Cycleops to resolve the issue, they have been responsive and courteous but have not yet offered anything substantive. Cycleops told me to move the computer closer to the hub, it is already stem mounted so short of putting in my pocket not sure what the point was. So I put the 404 wheel on the bike and mated the computer with that hub. Did a test ride of about 45 minutes and did not have the dropout issues. This leads me to believe that the problem lies with the 808 hub and not the computer. With the speed sensor mounted to the front wheel and the cadence sensor mounted and functioning in lieu of using the hub for speed and cadence, the only data that seems to now droput is power. I think I will send them the wheel as soon as I can find the time to be without it. All in all, even this is a minor issue. Lest we forget that electronics, especially wireless elctronics are not going to be 100% perfect. I think that some issues are to be expected, as long as they are minor, I feel that getting upset and worked up over them is unproductive. |

I have a 2.4 that I am trying to ascertain whether it is, in fact, a lemon. It works fine, but the CPU will drain a battery in 2-3 months. This happens irrespective of how much I am riding. The firm ware is up-to-date but I get a low batt warning when I clear the memory. Eventually the read out starts to fade out.

i had the power dropout issue with my 2.4 SL upon initial installation in August 07, and followed the instructions to the letter. I moved the shark fin as close as i could to the hub (and mounted it on the seat stay) and have not had a power drop out issue since.
hope that helps. |
