I just looked at some files from last Dec. when I got my first PT. My peak power is about the same, but my bodyweight is 15-20 lbs lighter and the 5-10 second power has less decline from peak.FT is about 30 watts higher as well(still is dismal)..IOW I am faster and more fit. Unfortunately I brought some preconcieved ideas about training with me from years in the gym. I was only riding 3 days per week and resting lots. I am now riding 6 days and doing better. The PM helps me keep track of what works.

This season I'm banging out 150W more peak power than same period last year. This season I've done no specific sprint / NMP work. Last season I did heaps.

I'm much stronger aerobically this season (many aerobic PBs in the last couple of months).

Go figure.

Well done Alex, though as you said, go figure!

Hey, did you hear about what she did today?

What an awesome ride.

Isn't that a sexy bike?

Gee, what is that I see hanging from her seat...

Hmmm...

So out of curiosity considering another thread were his weights targeted at hypertrophy, did he put on muscle, and do you think this helped him improve. Did you see an appreciable increase in squat or deadlift totals matching his increase in NM power?

Of course! I watched her win the gold in the team sprint with sister Kerrie. Kerrie's bike is identical except the black and yellow are reversed.

I posted to FGF about Ryan Bayley's SRM PC which came loose and flew off in the Keirin final!

PM's everywhere, more than I've seen at previous rounds.

All the Kiwis, the entire Danish pursuit team, the Germans, the Aussies of course etc etc.

yes, to all that. however, the 'funny' thing is i *think* you'll see some endurance riders who do weights post that they could lift more than he could. (that's a *think* btw)

Nice - glad you got to watch the event.

You talk about picking the right parents mate, there are enough fast twitch fibres between the two sisters to suffice for a dozen regular people!

Maybe the initial intro to lifting resulted in some quick new muscle. Keep us posted on how the next few years go. I am on the old side to be doing both, but I would like to hear how a non pro(with a job) is able to juggle lifting and riding....yes he must have a good coach too

Sounds like you still feel that the weights are still worth the extra work. Alot of the masters guys I talk to are shying away from weights. Jobs and age taking thier toll. Do you cut them out during racing season?

he's a full time cyclist, time isn't an issue. he uses weights throughout the year reducing the volume in the lead up to major events
