Remember these are not a majority. Egypt and Jordan are homes to far more moderate moslems, I believe.
I'm not claiming all Moslems are Islamo Fascists or even retarded or any such view. What I do say is this region of the globe has put way way too much focus on God, Allah and religion at the expense of self-induced social development and scientific progress. The U.S. has also been held back by religion but nothing like as much as in the Middle East. Evolutionists in the Southern States were nearly driven out of schools by law but they fought their case and survived. Anyway, what we are seeing is the un-educated masses in some of these countries shouting blood and hellfire. Fortunately there are saner voices in the Arab World. Quote:

Being raised Catholic, there is nothing more sacred then a nun. A lid better be put on this situation quickly. Nothing will turn the tide against the Muslem world quicker then just what they did. They will be at Allah's feet quicker then what they are planning on.

In look what we have here…Evidence that the statement above is spot on….Killing a nun? Ok, I wonder what the reaction would be if a cleric was murdered in such a cowardly fashion…. Sept. 17, 2006, 11:24AM Nun's murder linked to pope's comments </SPAN> By MOHAMED SHEIKH NOR Associated Press MOGADISHU, Somalia -- Two gunmen killed an Italian nun and her bodyguard at a hospital today, and a security official for an Islamic militia controlling the capital speculated the attack was linked to worldwide Muslim anger over a speech by Pope Benedict XVI. The nun, whose identify was not released, was shot in the back four times at the entrance to the Austrian-run S.O.S. Hospital in northern Mogadishu, said Dr. Mohamed Yusuf, a physician at the facility, which serves mothers and children.

In my opinion a religious war is imminent and will be a worldwide event. The winners will decide who was righteous in their cause.
Everyone pick a side! I am going with the Christians.

This is in response to the Popes comments.....
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- An al-Qaida-linked extremist group warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that he and the West were "doomed," as protesters returned to the streets across the Muslim world to demand more of an apology from the pontiff for his remarks about Islam and violence. The Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups that includes al-Qaida in Iraq, issued a statement on a Web forum vowing to continue its holy war against the West. The authenticity of the statement could not be independently verified. The group said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as "the worshipper of the cross" saying "you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. ...We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword." Gee, sounds like this eh???? 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"

Religion as a whole is intolerant. Catholic conquistadores forced their own interpretation of faith on the Indians in South America, terrorising and wiping out the population. This wasn't exactly the brand of Christianity the early Christians endorsed.
Same thing with Islam today. It depends who does the interpreting. Muhammad Ali would feel sickened by the violence. There's only way ahead. Religion needs to remain as religion in a secular environment and religion should never be allowed to be involved in politics. Religion is supposed to be about spiritual issues and peace - not war or politics. Quote:

Religion can be interpreted in various ways, depending on who does the interpreting. I could quote you some verses from both the Torah and the Koran that seem to promote violence. On the other hand, I could quote other verses that contradict these.
For example, the Torah tells the children of Israel to "utterly destroy" the Canaanites in case the Hebrews also fall into worship of more than one god. Then, the book of Jonah goes on to teach tolerance (to the people of Ninevah). 2 messages, 2 avenues for interpretation. Are you going to judge Christianity by the behaviour of the Ku-Klux-Klan or Billy Graham? Are you going to judge Islam by the behaviour of Muhammad Ali or Osama Bin Laden? Are you going to use Herod to judge Judaism as a whole - the guy who had infants slaughtered? Let's be fair: People of all faiths have been using religion to justify war and hate for centuries and these include Jews, Christians and Moslems but such people are hypocrites - it's not so much the belief system per se. The New Testament shows Jews were stoning women for committing adultery as some Moslems do today. Now, in modern times, Jews and Christians aren't so extreme but, at one time, they were. People can't go out with an assumed licnse to kill and then say they did it because they're religous. Quote:

I think he may need to swat up on his ancient history, though.
The Romans had a cuisine that even modern France couldn't match. They had architecture and even engineering we would probably be unable to duplicate today. It's simply not true the ancients were unsophisticated barbarians. They were a very advanced people. The Greeks would laugh at out so-called democracy - they invented it and they actually practised it. The ancient Egyptians even built their pyramids in line with the star Syrius, knew it existed and these people were also black, not white. Quote:
