Yes but I'm winning, Don. I can' t quit now, especially in view of the fact I found a really good engineer to help. He told me today there's a fuel lift pump missing apparently so that needs sorting. Still, I reckon the old boat will be going in some 3 weeks. I just hope it doesn't rain again tomorrow as I'm painting no matter what.

Personally, I couldn't really care less whether people or gay or lesbian or transgendered or whatever. However, the term you used in Spanish is "maricon" and is widely used.
I recall sitting with a married couple in Navarra once and they were showing a gay pride march in Barcelona on TV. The guy looked at me and said: "Mariposas!" which is Spanish for butterflies! Why the Spanish use the term butterflies I have no idea. Quote:

Funnily enough, Billy Connoly confessed to having been a poofta at one stage.

Billy Connolly was an abuse victim which probably led him to heavy drinking and other problems:
http://books.guardian.co.uk/extract...,556339,00.html "Survivors of childhood sexual abuse often experience sexual confusion in adulthood, and Billy was no exception. Billy knew he was attracted to women. But, because abusers always design their victims' future sexuality to some extent, Billy had a nagging question about his sexual orientation and was drawn to seek a few experiences with other men to satisfy his curiosity. They were experiences that resembled the furtiveness of his abuse in both style and setting, and he found them ultimately uncomfortable and unsatisfying. He eventually came to the conclusion that he was definitely a heterosexual man who had simply known homosexual abuse." Quote:

the problems of the Big Yin's childhood are well known, he is a candid person when talking about his family... i dont think he ever admitted indulging in homosexual acts....the tabloids however is a different matter.

Yes, he spoke about it all with his wife on an interview I saw. Billy Connoly is straight but he was abused by his dad. Not just that but he had a tough time at school apparently. He said he used to get the tawse virtually every day. Other victims of abuse were Oprah Winfrey, Heather Mills and even Michael Jackson:
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Billy_Pamela_..._Review_5297796 "School life was tough, a threatening environment and non compliance to the rules and regulations meant that boys were punished with the Tawse, or leather strap. Billy was not particularly academic and was a bit of a dreamer. Beatings were frequent. He struggled with basic tasks such as telling the time, and doing up shoe laces, even at twelve years old. He was ten years old when his father began sexually abusing him, and this was difficult as they had to share a room, due to overcrowding in his aunt’s home. This abuse continued for four or five years. This remained a secret until the early eighties when his father died and he told Stephenson of this abuse. It was ironic that his father constantly chastised Billy for his sinfulness and not adhering to their faith, while this abuse was going on." Quote:

In one of his shows, Billy denied absolutely ever having touched another man's balls.

Billy suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder. Life in school is tough when the teachers just think you're lazy.

That was a long time ago. The worst cases I read was those nuns. Scores of adults have testified to the physical abuses of those old convent schools.

By the way, it's still raining. I was going to cycle down to my boat today to paint but it looks like no chance of that. Yes, I think more and more of returning to northern Spain. Either that or forget outdoor pursuits.
You can understand this kind of situation in April but surely not September. I've been waiting to gloss my bow for about 2 weeks and no joy. ![]()

Yesterday I chatted a Sheila up
This was some girl from Russia with red hair like a punk-rocker. Turns out we both lived in the same parts of Russia and knew similar towns in Latvia. So, I wrote down my number and gave it to her and we'll see if my boldness yields fruit.
