The best bike is a custom one--you just need to find out what type of frame composition you desire (Calfee, Seven, etc.)
Otherwise Eddie Merckx, Colagno, Litespeed, Trek--all are good depending again on the frame. There are a lot of Orbeas around lately. |

The Cervelo soloist does cost about $2000 less than other dura-ace bikes, so I wouldn't put it at ferrari level. Oh wait, I guess if you add the zipp wheels, then, maybe.

The best road bike anyone could build with unlimited resources would be a cervelo carbon soloist with zipp 404's or lightweights, campagnolo record, FSA wing pro bars, SRM cranks, alpha q forks and full ti cassette.
Thats up for personal preference though The best TT bike would be the P3 or the BMC Time Machine with 909 and SRM cranks. Ferrari=Cervelo, Time Lamborghini= Pinarello, Opera (same as piny), BMC, Look BMW= Scott, Colnago (tad poseur), Ridley Ford= Trek, Giant, Specialized (they are popular for a reason though...value) Steel is the old cobb&co horse drawn cart of road bikes |

Yer illegal blood levels containing cocaine and an artificially high haemocratic are required to ride bianchi's. To suggest that a certain bike won this race so therefore its the best is a tad idiotic. You still have to ride the thing. A lot of the pro's get there bikes custom made and they chuck there sponsors paint on it anyhoo. Notably T-Mobile's TT bikes, Some of Lance's bikes and many more. |

are you serious. you need to look at and ride some of the custom fab'd steel bikes then come back and restate your opinion. maybe do a little research on the history of racing and bicycles then come back and re-read your anwer and opinions. Honestly cervelo doesn't have the mistique and history to be called the ferrari, in my book. i would have to say colnago, hands down. amazing ride quality (even steel) awesome geometry for a production bicycle, and a history to demand the respect of enthusiasts worldwide. and by the way, steel is real.

The title of your thread and your questions inside are kindof.... skewed? Actually your asking about 3 or 4 different questions, but I'll give it a shot. Really nice brands on the Market: Of the one's you can actually find in the bike shop? Thats easy. Colnago. End of story. Check this out. I Just sold my Colnago Super for $1500. You're saying: "So....". It's 20 years old!! You wanted sort of a bike to car comparison. Only the most desirable cars hold or increase in value over the years. Bikes are the same way. Unfortunately, the only one still manufactured that you can actually find are Colnago's. Bianchi's? I won't discuss them, and I'll leave it like that. The "fastest ascent" rider probably weighed about 120lbs, and is so goddamn strong he could have done it on my kids three-wheeler.... Ok, I will discuss Bianchi's: Any bike manufacturer that would mass produce a bike in a disgusting snot green..... Jesus.. unreal. I just don't want to talk about it. |
