i suppose i am lucky, i live on the border of a large wilderness area with hills forests and lochs...its beautiful no matter what the weather is like. i go out when i feel the need to get out of the house for a few hours, it doesnt matter what the weather is like. I hate a strong wind rather than heavy rain. There is no point going for a long ride in the rain then taking a week off work and in your bed with the cold. weight up the benefits againsts the risks.

I agree, my daily ride cuts through a pine plantation which acts as an umbrella but at about 400m/alt mark the treeline ends and the jeep track climbs through the Vynbos (local vedgetation, proteas and heather like bush) up the side of the mountain. And when the wind is blowing, Man in dry conditions it can blow some of the lighter riders of their bikes add some rain and you begin to question your sanity. Heading down we get up 65 ks/H on the gravel, so the wind-chill, blues your legs and face. Hence the leg warmers I purchased recently. |
