I’m sitting here and its raining outside again, the trails are a muddy mess and does getting soaked have any benefit health wise, I READ THAT YOU eat more after a cold ride so, and my main reason is keeping that gut in check.

Honestlly! I’m now sort of addicted to my daily ride getting out on the mountain sharing with nature and all that.

Oh well i suppose it’s the stationary cycle in front of the TV again tonight.

I went out yetserday for a 40 mile XC in the p1ss1ng rain. It was so muddy that by about 30 miles changing gear was becoming an issue, at least on the front end chain rings its was. And personally I was more mud than man. There was even mud inside my shoes (no I dont own overshoes, might buy some now though). However I felt better for it.

The irony was not lost on me that whilst sitting in the bath trying to warm up the rain stoped and the sun came out

I don't mind cycling in the rain. It makes getting home all the more nicer.

Good on you,

I face the same prospect today, it seems the rain might let up a little, but as our trail runs through a working plantation there are sections where the machinery creates mud baths. Now the next question do you wash your bike before or after you cleanup? I always feel guilty and give my bike a quick spray down before i jump into the shower.

When I return from a ride all covered in mud my wife always remarks, you’ll never loose that little boy in you, will you?

When it's wet I ride (imoan more) when it's dry I ride, when it's hot I ride, I even ride in the cold (boy do I moan then, I hate being cold)

I enjoy riding and getting muddy, I don't like it on the road in the wet are car drivers seem to loose their ability to see, steamed up windows may be the blame.

I hosed down my Bike and then got the people I was riding with to hose me down as well. Shame about the hosepipe ban and the drought we're told we're having in south east england.

I can recommend the Endura Water Prood Jackets having tested mine thoroughy now. Oh and it's raining again, I like this drought

Its good to see some folk get out there and ride in poor conditions...
I was at a bike meet a few weeks back and we had a 65km ride through some pretty attrocious conditions...i was unsure of where the bike ended and the track began! Anyways, at one point, there was a prticularly muddy section that had been chopped up by 4WDs...and you wouldnt believe how many people started whinging about getting their bikes dirty! I mean its a MOUNTAIN BIKE!!!
Sure the muddy tracks are not the best for ya drivechains and linkages but its sometimes the experience which is the main thing!

I'm about to do an 84Km charity ride, hence the training, and my theory s if I can do 64km off road, through mud and water in the pouring rain then I can surely do the full 84km on road with nce slick tires on a lighter bike.

I'll find out on June 18th I suppose

Sometimes I rebuild / overhaul my bottom bracket, headset, cables, and chain because of the last ride in the mud. Not worth it.

Now, of course, on the road - a $10 rear fender and rain pants is all that's needed to eliminate the water troubles. Don't forget to WD40 everything afterward, and wipe it all dry.

If its raining heavily I don't go, stay home and feel frustrated. If its dry but threatening to rain I go out.

Ride whatever the weather, riding in pouring rain somehow makes the journey more epic to me. Plus the feeling when u get home in the warm is soooo gud.

on the VERY rare occasion that it rains in scotland, i go out if i can be arsed. Being arsed is more of a hindrance than the rain is. Sometimes though i dont want to risk getting a chill or a cold...

Same here in Manchester. The biggest hassle for me is not the rain or the threat of rain its getting to the ride. As I don't drive I have to try and stay reasonably clean to be able to use public transport.
