'Both political parties' is exactly right...and IMO is why you see the Dems doing what they've done in Congress the past several years. Maybe that's why you had John Kerry throwing in the towel on the '04 election, when he could have pursued the accurate vote count and been declared the winner. But that would have meant doom for the BushCo agenda.
I think the majority of Dems are content to let the Repigs be the party of record in the pursuit of control of the world's remaining oil supply. I don't think any of them - R or D - has the slightest idea of what to do when the oil supply runs out, and so in their view the loss of a few thousand lives is deemed "acceptable losses" for the greater goal of oil hegemony. Acheiving this will stave off the inevitable end of oil for the US for as long as possible. Does one need further motive for Tony Blair's jumping aboard the US oil grab? It is not so hard to guarantee silence when you have the threat of the weight of the gov't behind you, which now as we know includes the possibility of torture or rendition to a foreign country, and/or being shipped off to a gov't black hole such as Gitmo or somewhere to a CIA gulag in Poland, Romania, etc. Conversely, no one has yet accounted for the literally billions of $'s of gold that were in the sub-levels of the WTC. Easy to use as a carrot of rewards. Lest we forget, Senators Leahy and Daschle were silenced shortly after 9-11 by the anthrax letters they received. The anthrax strain in those letters was determined to have come from none other than a gov't lab at Ft. Detrick, MD., but nothing has ever been done about it. Then you have the plane crash of Sen. Paul Wellstone. Look into that one and tell me it wasn't another message being sent. As we know, the 9-11 Commission was a complete and utter farce pulled upon the American people, and was actually an insult to the 9-11 families. It was something initially that Bush fought to prevent, but when he was finally forced to relent from public pressure it was only while not under oath and with Dick-less Cheney present to hold his hand. Most of the members of that panel were BushCo/Repig cronies from way back. There are so many ommissions, lies, and inconsistencies in that report that it is not worth the paper it's printed on - which is an entire topic unto itself. Now, in light of those very relevant and telling facts as well as many, many others, you can stick your head in the sand and pretend it is all just the evil ragheads that are out to disrupt our "way of life" because they "hate our freedoms", or... ...you can get your brain adjusted to the underlying and I might say inescapable reality that is driving these monstrous policies, which is: the coming of Peak Oil. It is obvious that these people are not fucking around. The prospect of Peak Oil has gotten these people so scared that they're willing to use any means to acheive their ends.

[/QUOTE] The only message sent in that case was that Wellstone insisted they fly the plane when the weather was bad. The message sent was that Wellstones insistence caused deaths. The pilots he used also have been shown to be incompetent in their past actions. I am very familiar with the case as I spend a lot of time in the area the plane crashed in. Again Wurm, you are trying to imply things that are simply not true.
