Just how is it factual to call someone a house "nigger"? That is Belafonte's opinion. But of course you are free to assume that Belafonte's opinion is the same as fact. |

the actual quote used is "slave", with this in mind let's please not escalate wording to the derogatory level you chose here...
as for the slavery reference, seems this is an accurate, if crude, (should one be perhaps oversensitive to harshly worded comparison) reflection of how things really did go down, not only for powell but the rest of the "fall guys" of the bush syndicate. of course they now all have continued to capitalize on the deliberate outcome of their involvment the same bush syndicte they ran from by becoming consultants to fuel the lucrative "national security" industry, double dipping in addition to the pensions they still somehow have kept entitlement to. coincidentally, this is to their great personal financial gain, even in the midst of their conspiracy in perpetrating numerous ongoing international crimes. hopefully, for the sake of justice and to begin to regain the standing of the us on the interational level, the time will come when they are all held accountable for their doings in legal actions, from the top on down. support for this will be motivated by the likes of mr. belafonte and his speaking out, as he appeal includes those who are his peers in terms of age, service, patriotism, and wisdom borne of experience. this is just exactly how movements are inspired. sbaby,
the previous gov of cal went down in flames due to his not being able to provide enough electricity to keep the lights on, there were "rolling blackouts" that perturbed folks no end. xmas lights went out in winter and air conditioning in summer, not to mention businesses w/ no power... this was the texas bush family and friends warm and personal way of sticking it to cal. after yet another humiliating defeat for bush as president in such a close election. the special election was initiated per a petition basis, so many people were out for blood looking for a scapegoat and davis (prev. cal gov) was it. what was behind the blackouts, you may ask? enron driven (texas owned, tax evading, government protected) unregulated energy pricing that drove the providing power company, pacific gas & electric, into bankrupcy... a couple years later, we find the richest state in the richest nation cannot even provide basic services to adequately support the population in terms of education, law enforcement, medical care, highway maintenance, and social services, as these budgets have all been slashed while aids top aids make 200k a year, as they are paid both by the state and by those they lobby for! there is not a single sector of state gov that has improved since arnold was elected... so now those who directed their efforts into voting him in are left feeling a wee bit flat, as evidenced by the dismal failure of all his special election initiative vote results. the ironic thing is, all this arnold related special election expense has cost the state ongoing millions...and the "opening of the books" promised the public never seemed to materialize. for what it is worth, the election of arnold was initialy seen as republican victory as it ousted a democratic party gov, and so many republicans were dancing in the streets over this.
