Don't take it as gospel, MP - perhaps Carrera did kick his frame in order to straighten the derailleur. Nice to hear that you've broken so many frames - you're either (1) Hard, (2) Fat or (3) Hard & Fat. I think I may be number (2) as I've cracked my cranks without breaking any records, and I get a police escort when I ride on the road.

I'm gonna try that one, MP - "It's not that I'm fat, it's just these cheap cranks" - err, but they're Dura-Ace - "Yeh, no-good, cheap, Dura-Ace shite that doesn't accommodate the fuller figure"...

actually i dont think these soft merkin frames can take the extremes of weather, climate and terrain that scotland has to offer. This has been a breaking yard for merkin products for years...

i cant go out my back yard without tripping over twisted and mangled frames 'hand made in the usa'...

'hand broken in scotland'

Speaking of that, my nephew is just learning to ride on a little fixed-wheel in NZ that my Grandfather built by hand (including the frame) back in (I guess) the late 1930's in Scotland. The bike has always been called "Wee McGregor" and is what my Mum, my Uncle, my Sister and I all learnt to ride on. 70 odd years and still going strong (after a couple of refurbishments), and not a drop of aluminium to be seen.
